I really love it!! It's definitely best used in low-lit rooms, with it really shining in dark rooms. I can't see the pixels at all at normal viewing distance, and in a darker room it's basically a theater experience. That said, I spent a bit more to get a nicer unit so it would work (relatively speaking), with the lights on.

Here are some samples with all of the over head lights on in the studio. It's not great, but for background sports/movies on poker nights, it will work just fine (and much better than the cheap piece of crap projector I had before this one). NOTE - These were taken before I figured out the zoom function, so the projected area is a bit smaller than those shown in my prior post above...

Awesome!! I'm looking for something to use in my backyard in the Spring for movie nights. One baby left in the house and I want to maximize our vegging together.:D It's pretty dark in my yard, other than the firepit, so should work very well.

Do you mind me asking how much I can expect to spend for a good movie watching experience?

I got the Epson 2045, and it's got quite a few glowing reviews. Here's a photo from a projector forum site, where the guy used the 2045 for his outdoor movie nights (although I think his screen setup is pretty small)...

Also, here's an example of what it's like running during sunset. You can see that it's still got a decent amount of light out, especially if you look at the color of the sky, and yet the visibility is pretty decent still. It'll of course look way better once it's totally dark out.

The Epson 2045 is selling on Amazon for $599, but I got lucky and snagged it on a Lightning Deal at $539. Granted, the model is now entering it's 3rd year of life, and was just replaced by the Epson 2150 (which has some PIP/multi-source WiFi features, and more lumens). So if you're looking for the better unit, check that one out at $649. For only 50-bux more it's probably the way to go.

Explain the attraction. My son had to have one... I'm underinformed on the G-Shock line.

I, too, was a traditionalist, but got bit by the g-shock bug. They are great for when you want a watch that can take a beating. I’m careful with my belongings, but when doing yard work, pool maintenance, etc., tough and waterproof come in handy. Many times I’m timing chores for the pool and hate having to look at my phone, which is bound to take a swim at some point.

The atomic versions are extremely accurate and change daylight savings automatically - just leave them on the windows sill overnight. I lean more toward the analog, but have some with both, because digital functionality is handy at times.

These Bud Jones boxes. They fit the s2 and r4 chips like a GLOVE and allow me to actually see them while stored.

My initial set of Niemann’s chips was a gift from my longtime partner. She heard me talking about Jim’s listings on eBay and created an account to bid on a set. So they have special significance that way and are cool to see.

The boxes have interlocking notches and grooves on the tops and bottoms, which is pretty neat and allows 1100 chips to be stored perfectly in a cardboard strawberry flat. I don’t use racks or have a lot of display space, so these seem like a huge step up from cardboard boxes and handled cases.

A huge thank you to @Potsie1 for hooking me up with these!
