About 18 months into the Hobby... 45k plus in chips... do we have a problem? (4 Viewers)

This thread is nuts, lol. Props gentlemen, props.
Well thank you! But @FordPickup92 my Beautiful better half is definitely not a gentleman! Lol

I am truly blessed to have a woman in my life that is just as passionate about this amazing hobby as I am. It is absolutely ok for couples to pursue different paths and hobbies, but having someone to share it with just makes it that much better. We wait for the other to get hoke and share the excitement of new packages arriving, wash clean and plan our builds together. We have attended 7 meet ups across this amazing country together this year alone and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I have said it 100 times "poker chips are awesome, but the relationships and people here are what make the community" it is trully amazing and I am a blessed man to wake up next to a fellow enthusiasts each and every day!

Good luck woth your own chipping journey @radeon6971 and yes journey... it's not just about poker chips, I hope the hobby brings you new friendships and joy as it has for so many others! Hope to see you at a meet up somewhere down the road!

Awesome, except it costs twice as much! Haha

Anyone else keep telling yourself this is an investment as much as a hobby? Makes me feel a little better spending cash.

So someone was making fun of my comment about sets being "too large for our light box" this is one of our smaller sets and still the Non white sides of the box wind up in photos.

Anyways wet gross weekend here in MD so after my amazing buddy @BSteck Brian who has helped design all of my custom pieces for our Artichoke Joe's set, he asked to see some pron with everything together.

I am an armature and suck at photo taking, but here is everything together for our Artichoke Joe's Carson City NV micro set.

Brian again thank you so much for your help with the buttons, plaques and cut cards. You absolutely nailed the retro vibes I was hoping for.

My favorite part is the Peanuts on the rolling edges of the buttons. I wasn't sure how clear they would come out but BR Pro nailed it!

The "ugly duckling" set is nearly complete if I can just find a few more $1s some day! Since day one "Playing for Peanuts" as a theme for a micro poker set was just perfect! You never have an idea how long it will take to make something like this a reality, 3ish years was well worth the investment! These are absolutely a forever set for us!

Coming soon to the "kiddie Table" at a meet up near you! Lmao

Love that $20 plaque!!

As Mr. Jim stated... "perfect little T5 based 3k SS breakdown" all cleaned up and ready to go! Fat Hats are just awesome!! Just finished a fresh bath and oil!

To those that do not know what a 48mm Fat Hat is
20221011_194542.jpg

They are BIG chips! Try cleaning those and then go back to 39mm. It is the weirdest feeling thing ever! Lol

And then to their new home

Ready for a trip!! A bit of room for expansion too! But with only 7 sets in existence... not likely to "add on" any time soon.

Mr. @JustDogbert thank you again for the opportunity to add another amazing set to the collection brother! I owe you one sir!

Funny enough I just packed some of mine up this afternoon to use for a pre-game satellite for Saturdays tournament. Will be my first time playing with them!

After cleaning I am even more in love with the design of them... the way they did the Denominations is just cool on these, bright and inviting!

I have never played a full set of Fat Hats, I have played @Seeking Alpha Social Club winners club chips that go up to 50mm several times and that is where the obsession came from for the Monster chips! Looking forward to hearing about what the players think of them.

Honestly can't believe how lucky I was at a second chance for these. It is about history... sure Plams had 2 denoms, Jacks had 3 denoms... but the first casino used 4 denom set (that I know of, unless you count the RPCs... but not casino used) the fact that only 7 sets were available. Such a cool and rare little slice of history in these. Soo looking forward to felting them here in the east some time soon for a late night or a "warm up turbo"

Gotta be careful using them at meet ups though... fat hats have a way of sneaking into the brain and becoming obsession, just one of those things you can't forget about and unfortunately there just aren't that many out there.

Run well on their inaugural appearance brother!

Unfortunately Sonny that beauty was a gift from my brother Herman @Godzilla28 ... if I find another it's all yours. But I take gifts very seriously... it hasn't joined the frac collection yet, still may become a capper for the next meet up! I like many other gamblers am very superstitious and believe there is "run good" in gift chips!

I was all but out of the main event @ekricket meet up in New Mexico last year, short stacked facing a table change in murderers row that all had much larger stacks than my previous table... I pulled a Jokers Wild frac that @JeepologyOffroad gave me out of my pocket, not even in a protector (you can see it infront of me in this picture, green chip right side of the pic!)

I doubled up like 5 times off of that chip, the generosity and love in a gift as it were. It not only carried me to that final table pic but all the way to second place!

Call me weird but I believe in such "karma/luck"

She sure is beautiful all cleaned up!

Great set and I hear you 100%! Once the idea of an all-Fat Hat set was planted in my brain, there was no turning back!

Still waiting for labels, but I can’t wait to get my cash set in play!

I'm a newbie here, just starting to feel the virus taking over. I think I've collected about 300 chips, mostly samples but a few barrels and my wife is starting to notice, but so far mostly unsuspecting. My first thought when I saw these pictures was how do you keep this from her, but of course she's all in. It's truly a fantastic collection and I'm in awe!

Wanted to follow up on the "Red Denom" set. Still can't believe we built a set of THCs in 2022 which seems all but impossible anymore. Earlier this year I posted pictures of the start of the set

But man OCD is a Bi*ch! That partial rack!! Uggh!

Well through some trading the only other member with a significant quantity finally decided to let go of his years of serching and efforts to build a rack, I know what goes into these efforts and I don't take it lightly when someone gives in to help another member of this amazing forum. Josh @flipupchipup seriously thank you so very much brother!! Also to @juankay20 again who spent a long time putting the first rack of these together and was working on the second when he selflessly understoodwhat they would mean to our set.

Also @RivieraDanny found an online auction from Carrol Shelbys private chip collection, what's the dang chances that he had another rack of what I though was "one of a kind" in our Tahoe Biltmore Colon Orange quarters. He purchased the rack knowing I would love them, set them to the side and said "when you have the funds they are waiting for you at cost!"

Again Brie and I are very grateful for the help, cleaned and oiled and finally ready to show!

Not going to call it "finished" at this point I hope to maybe make it playable for two tables, technically it can but a few more wouldn't hurt! Lol

Once in a while it's fun to change things up and play different stakes and such. I had most of a rack of Nevada Landing Purple $.50 fracs, by chance I found a few sellers on eBay that had enough to finish up the rack!

Also being a "Red denom" set a good friend Tom @ReallyGoodUsername listed a rack of the beautiful (and highly underrated) Happy Knight $10s, while obviously not using them at the same time as the $25s, the red spots match perfectly! So on a low stakes kind of night (possibly this evening) I think they make a fantastic addition to the set!

20221203_082335.jpg

Not so bright and flashy like many sets here in our amazing hobby, but the retro vibe and old school Nevada awesomeness, plus my obsession with 414 spots on a Maryland color (work horse) $5, the simplicity and rarity of the 214 Silver Clu $1s.

This has easily become one of my absolute favorite sets and generally not even a fan of mixed sets.
