I have 200 mint of each $5 and I’m trying to determine which goes best in the set. I think the base red is the same or at least close.

Casablanca $5 has brighter spots and provides alternating black / red denominations.

Empress $5 has more complex spots, a gold spot that matches both the $1 and $100 (didn’t realize it at the time), and a shaped inlay.

Eventually I’d like to swap out and increase the winning choice to 400 for the desirable 100/200/400/80/20 breakdown.

Thoughts?

Gotta say I like the Casablanca better. The Empress look good, but I like the pop of color from the yellow spot, especially from the edge and in stacks vs. the muted gold and blue in the empress.

Even for those that have already voted, if I choose the Empress and avoid going with the bright spot of the Casa, then does the bright spot on the Blue Chip quarter now create an imbalance? Does the Casa help to balance out the Blue Chip bright spot? Because I agree, without the quarter, it might not get better than the $1-$100 with the Empress in the mix.

Considering the second lineup is the exact same lineup as my current mixed set it would be hard for me to choose anything but the Empress $5.

You have impeccable taste.
Sh*t... i didn’t even realize that and I’m very familiar with your set... :ROFLMAO::confused:

But at least your hundo is the grey Casa 818 right, or did you change it out??

I know how you voted then.

Yeah i changed out the Casa for the Eddie's some time back and started working on building my Casablanca tournament set. The Eddie's is a great fit. We've always almost mirrored each other building our mixed sets. Still doesn't change the fact that we have great taste.

I love the metallic Gold as a spot color but I don't like it as much as a base color for a chip. I wish i could find a suitable .25c chip with a gold edge spot (without doing a relabel) but until then the Blue Chip .25c will have to do.

I voted Casablanca, then changed to Empress, the went back to the Casa and back to Empress... it’s that close to me.

I like the fact the Casa has the yellow spot, it makes the chip more visible. But I also like the fact the Emoress seems to fit better among the other chips, if a tad muted.

Hard to pick a favorite. Pros and Cons galore. Both good choices though.

Same here... I’ve gone back and forth countless times... definitely keeping the Casa’s and getting rid of Empress... nope... definitely keeping the Rmpress and getting rid of the Casa’s... now I’m at the point where I’m thinking about keeping both in the set because the base red is the same and I really want/need 400 x $5’s...

The Casa $5 does compliment the spot color of the .25c and compliments the Aztar $25. It is a worthy choice as well. No reason to not rotate both $5's in & out unless you need to get economical on chip amounts (what's that?). Mixed sets are kinda free flowing anyway and should never really be set in stone/finished/done.

I don't like Empresses at all, but the Empress definitely goes better in this set.

Of course, going with the Empress means you're going to have to replace the Blue Chip quarters with something bearing a touch of gold...

Casa! Definitely get that yellow spot in there. The set needs it. Love this lineup either way though.

casablanca to avoid too much color matching. I don't know about your players, but I have some middle aged, color blind players. If there's any color matching at all they start bitching. Then they next time they come over they start up again lol.

After 38 votes, we’re at 19 to 19... There doesn’t appear to be an outright winner... #chipperproblems

I like the shaped inlay if the empress, but I think the casa has better impact from looking at it in stacks or flat in a pot.
