Poker Chips in Movies – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (3 Viewers)

Has anyone seen this? I guess it was briefly in theaters, and now is on Netflix, to which I don't subscribe.

The cast looks pretty strong, but sadly the chips in this German movie poster are a weird mix of injection molds (Looks like a combination of dice chips and others.)

I don’t think it’s on USA Netflix yet?

Only Murders in the Building S05E08 "Cuckoo Chicks" has a scene in what is supposed to be kind of a speakeasy-like casino. They didn't show any poker action but there was a bit of Blackjack going on. And the chips they used could be cheap plastic - I have absolutely no idea - but at least they were a bit cooler looking than plain old dice chips. LOL

These are perhaps the cheapest customizable chips. Die-slugs usually don't have denominations much less stickers, and are only occasionally hotstamped. But these 'four crosses' or whatever they're called are everywhere in promo-chip (like business cards) and cheap sets that have big loud stickers on them.

Funny thing is, some are decent quality, while others are the most horrid I've come across with severe flash/ridges on the edges left over from the injection molding process. The 'good' ones have been smoothed down a bit and are, like any very cheap chip, just a cheap chip.

Screenshot from "California Split" from 1974 - strangely enough even though the scene is from Reno, these chips appear to be the ones from the ecuadorian casino samarina!

The scene where Elliot Gould reads the table while sitting at the bar is one of the all-timers of poker movies.

Interesting documentary. (At least episodes two and three.) But the best part of the story is second episode about cabazon tribe starting up a card room/bingo hall.

Chips with a great story.

IIRC Lie to Me has two episodes with some nice chips, one an underground cash game (could not find a pic) and then this poker tournament.

I was at the thrift store and saw they had a copy of Easy Money. I knew there had to be a poker scene or two and I was not let down.

This movie is complete dog shit and after skimming thru it, I was ready to end it all.

Of course they use shitty plastic chips. The tables are disgusting and in one of the two poker scenes they are just openly eating the greasiest pizza on Earth.
