Found PCA $5 Secondary (1 Viewer)

Help.

Need quantity but will take any that are available. Don't have a whole lot to trade but I'm open to any discussion about $$ and can be very flexible with anyone who has racks available.

I believe @Heavyball had the breakdowns of how many chips were originally released... but I haven't seen that chart in over a year 38k sounds a bit high but might be in the neighborhood. Remember many people want lots of $5s and not as many $1s or $25s... the casinos many times have pretty even breakdowns, therefore is its quite common for these sets to be short when it come to $5s... add in the fact that people murder chips for their customs (I don't know off hand anyone doing that to these but very possible) and just like the Jacks there is a shortage of $5s for the other sets out there.

@Thomacetti did you have the original breakdown chart of what was available also? Can't believe you guys didn't buy them all for those prices!! LOL curious what the sale prices would be now releasing leaded minty THCs into the comunity.

I have always thought that the secondary $1s are way below where the market should be for those. I get that they are RHC and do not match the set... but the colors are amazing, they are leaded and have textured inlays. I do not understand why they don't bring $2 plus when they are part of a rather expensive set for the rest of the chips in the series.

Couldn’t agree with you more on this point. I see what some of the new RHC $1s go for now compared with what the secondary PCA $1s go for and it’s mind boggling. The PCA secondary $1s have it all in terms of look and feel, and the history too!! I think a lot of the newer chippers couldn’t care less about the history of the hobby, though. All it takes is a few people to decide they want PCA secondary $1s, then there will be a slew of people after them...

I'd disagree slightly about the history. I think it really just depends on the person. I'm fairly new to the game but I can tell you that the history fascinates me. It adds so much the the allure of certain chips to me, but I think as someone seeking out chips that hit my feels just the right way, aesthetic and physical feel of the chip is still the main driver.

I’m probably biased in terms of the history of these. It was the first casino I stepped foot in over two decades ago. It was a dump, but there was just something beautiful about that boat!! And the chips were gorgeous too...

You’re going to get it from both angles here. Some old timers will tell you to definitely put a price in the want ad, while others will tell you not to. As with a lot of things, you can’t win for losing.

Yeah, I suppose I can understand arguments for both. I guess the big difference now is I have enough back story and understanding to actually form an opinion on the matter. Whether that opinion is popular or not, I'm not sure, but it's mine so that at least makes me feel a bit more enlightened! Many thanks to those that took the time to dig up all of this info and contribute to the conversation!

I’d be surprised after the poker boom if 20% of those chips are on PCF after CT died
As cheap as they were who knows
Basement closets
Lost in moving / garage sales
Lost in storage lockers
A lot of guys retired and post poker boom quit poker they are in the dresser somewhere

I’d say if 75% of them knew what some stuff goes for there would be a flood of stuff here for sale till they are $1.50 a chip again

I would say even all 35,000 chips of that quality the price would stay at $400 a rack and all would sell. That chip is awesome and @Thomacetti is right I agree given the current market they are under valued!

Yeah, in the short term, for sure. But something tells me that the US economy is going to be very screwed for a while, pretty soon. These handouts can't last forever. How that impacts the chip market, we'll just have to wait and see.

I think as these chips settle into the hands of people who will keep them forever (@Thomacetti and Brie, for example) they will become more elusive and prices will hold/increase. As people come in and out of this community I don’t believe there are enough leaded Paulsons to go around - long term.

Agreed...I have had many chips coming my way but sold only 2 sets and 8-ish racks tops in +10 years.
Even those I regret while they were only sold to fund moar chips....
