Paulson "Elite" (1 Viewer)

For clarity I sent GPI an email asking them how to describe the chips. In the future you can all describe these chips as made by Gaming Partners International.
This inspires confidence. Apache being very forthright with GPI about how the chips have been marketed and asking for clarifying guidance, GPI being reasonable in response.

My confidence won't be restored until he stops calling them Paulson chips on his web site. (n)

I expected better.

Are these Paulson chips or GPI chips?

It makes sense that the home market chips would use GPI as the brand since the other brands (Paulson, BJ, BG) are used exclusively for casino currency.

I never noticed that the molds for the oversize chips were reverse of the 39mm's. Does that make them RHC's? Or still considered THC's? (newb) Thanks

They are called IHC (Inverted Hat and Cane). Every mold has a name (or multiple names/nick names).
The THC mold can also be broken down into two sub-categories as there are actually two different molds.. LCV (Long Can Version) and SCV (Short Cane Version). I don't believe Paulson/GPI uses or recognizes a distinction between the LCV/SCV mold and considers it all the same - THC.

Thanks for this.
Is there an acronym thread for new people??

Like Wyldfyre, I’d also appreciate an update to the glossary. It took a little bit of searching to find the LCV/SCV distinction on this site. Thank you to softchewy for the explanation and pictures.

LCV/SCV still look very similar to me. What’s the easiest way to tell the difference?

The SCV has shorter canes (Obv.) and the canes come very close to the brim of the hat. The LCV's have longer canes and they are not close to the brims of the hats.

^ this. Or phrased another way, LCV canes are more horizontal and do not dip below the hat brim line, while SCV canes are more angled and create a small triangle-like shape where they almost intersect with the hat brim.

Thanks ChipEnvy and BGinGA. I will file this knowledge away for when I’m ready to build a Paulson set.

To be honest, I'm surprised that GPI's legal department hasn't raised a stink about the name being used without their permission. Most likely they are unaware of it.
Maybe they're too busy sorting out the Star Cruise line chips.

BTW... Apache has dropped the "Paulson" on his website and now just calls them 'Elites'. He's also dropped the 'made in the same factory' in the description.

These chips are made by Gaming Partners International. The chips weigh around 8.5 grams each and are in brand new condition. This set features a Bounty chip and goes the whole way up to 25,000 making them perfect for a tournament.

Gaming Partners International is the same company that makes Paulson chips.

I had a sample set of Elites for a short time and yes, they are light. Too light for me...I’d rather play Majestics.

That's crazy talk IMO! Haven't actually weighed the Gemaco chips but my guess is that they are very similar in weight to majestics. Even if majestics are heavier...not enough for me personally to tell the difference or sway me from the better feel/sound of real clay.
