Okku's Historical Casino Videos & Random Fun Stuff (2 Viewers)

Today we talk about another early early casino that was located in downtown Las Vegas. It's the Sal Sagev, which is Las Vegas spelled backwards. It was open from 1931-1934 and originally was opened as the Hotel Nevada back in 1906. It was a two story 35 room corner building which cost $1 to stay in one of the 10 x 10 foot rooms that were completed with electric lighting and steam radiators. Inside of the lobby there was a cigar store and the recipient of Vegas' first telephone service in 1907. Ironically the phone number was 1, being the first! It is today's Golden Gate Casino. Opened by Abe Miller this place has an unknown history, but it's something that most people do not know about. There are roulette chips out there and apparently a second set of chips with denominations on them which have yet to be found. Hope you enjoy!

Good morning everyone! Hope you have all been well and getting excited for the convention this week. I've been busy and have not had time to make videos but finally found some time. Today I'm talking about the story behind the chips that were originally going to be used at the Kings Crown in Las Vegas, but never did and then were used at Sharkey's in Gardnerville. It's an interesting thing I didn't know about until maybe a month ago when somebody showed me a picture and it finally clicked in my head. So Kings Crown wasn't able to get their gaming license in 1965-6 so the chips were manufactured but never went into play. They were all uncirculated so Sharkey's had a great idea to buy those chips to be used at their casino. When they opened up in 1971 they were saving time and money. They went ahead and used the previous Kings Crown chips as roulette chips, in my understanding, which they just put their own labels over the Kings Crown labels. Later they would use the same chips and made $1, $5 and $25 labels to go over the original labels. People would notice this once everyone started collecting them and it's almost like a hidden secret in my opinion which is pretty sweet.

Thanks to @joker80 and @Seeking Alpha Social Club and anyone else that was in the original thread talking about these which I found very interesting and helped my mind make the connection between the two!

Here's the video if you'd like to learn a little more and see side by side pictures!

Excellent information.
Thank you Oscar!

Has anyone seen the prices of some of these singles chips recently!?!? They've been insane, prices that we haven't seen in a while! Mainly TRKs and some of the more rare Paulsons are selling for 2x or even up to 3x what they used to sell for about a year ago, what is causing this? I believe the built up hype of not being able to get these chips and now that they are popping up more and more people want them. Plus, you can't forget about the newer people that are getting into the hobby. They want all the good stuff that everyone else wants sooooo prices are going to go up! In today's video, I show you guys what's been happening on eBay across the collector chip market and show what chips have brought some crazy money in the past few weeks! Hope you have an amazing day and enjoy!

Good stuff as always.

Today we talk about how my experience at the CCA Chip Show Convention has been so far with Day 1 & 2 out of the way. It's been so much fun and super awesome having the chance to meet everyone that watches the videos, help you guys out, and just chat. It's my first time ever getting to go so I've really been enjoying it and will make sure that this isn't the last time I go that's for sure! Should be making a little video today if I get the chance to walk around and see what everyone has available and show what's been happening for those that weren't able to make it out!

Here's the link enjoy:

Today I show you guys around the CCA Chip Show Convention at the South Point and what was happening on Day 3. Showing a majority of the booths, what kinds of items you are able to find there, goodies, awesome people and what kind of awesome environment there is. I had so much fun attending my first show and it was such an honor to meet everyone who watches the videos. You guys are awesome and keep me pushing harder and harder. Thanks again from the bottom of my heart, so grateful to be apart of such an amazing and one of a kind community. This will definitely not be last show and I'll continue going to these year after year.

Also just wanted to say it was so much fun meeting @Ben8257 @FordPickup92 @RichMahogany @kmccormick100 @AfterTheFact @Windwalker @41Pickup also seeing @ADS Aviator @Chipton . Everyone who I got to meet and got the chance to chat with it was so much fun and I enjoyed every single day! If I forgot you, don't worry I will remember your face no matter what.

Here's my day 3 walk around recap video, next video will be showing what I picked up at the show:

Nice vid! Ended up meeting @cpiaaq while he was talking to High Stakes Gambler from eBay. Don’t recall his (HSG) name but he’s aware of the forum and checks in now and again. He asked my screen name and mentioned that he knows the name, probably because I always mention that people that pay his prices on eBay are idiots :)

He was very nice however and a pleasure to talk to

After seeing all the fun and exciting things everyone got at the 2021 CCA Convention, it was only right that I showed what I got! I have to thank everyone for being so friendly, kind, inviting and the whole environment for just being awesome! Special thanks to @Spinettis Gaming, Ron (Ronald), @leo822, Westen, and @ADS Aviator for everything. All the kind words, gifting me some amazing items, sharing some information and all around being amazing people! It shows what the chip community is made of and I'm so thankful for that. As I've said before I had soooo much fun and this will definitely not be the last show that I attend. I'm so thankful to have another TRK set, some amazing samples and then some great personal chips that some people had made for themselves. Below you'll be able to see what goodies I was able to find and the amazing things I was gifted. Another BIG thank you to everyone, I seriously had so much fun and this show will forever be in my memory.

Here's the video:

At 13:50 you can hear a CCA member complaining that the PCF members don't listen to them. :ROFLMAO:

every conversation probably goes like this

PCFer: “I like this chip, how many do you have?”

Seller: “two”

PCFer: “ok I’ll take two racks”

seller: “no I meant two singles”

PCFer: “ok two barrels then”

OMG those BPOE TRKs are an amazing set. They look so good! I love the round frame in the hotstamp, an excellent decorative touch.

Today we talk about one of the chips that I got gifted to me at the CCA Convention by Westen this past week/weekend at the South Point Casino. This chip is very interesting because it has the old school Packard-Bell Corporation logo on it with "HBA" on the backside. My belief is that the HBA stands for Herbert Anthony Bell, who was one of the founders of Packard-Bell. Maybe, this was apart of a personal set or it could have been an advertising/tribute chip possibly. I feel like it's from the 50s/60s/70s era as well. Whatever it is the story is unknown and I feel like we have a good chance at figuring out the story behind it.

Hope you enjoy and have an amazing day!

You've been busy this week Oscar! Lots of great, informative videos.
You need a scale and I would love to send you one. Send me you addy and LMK what color; yellow, orange, red, green or blue.

Today I show you guys what I was able to get for myself at the new Resorts World casino that opened up here in Las Vegas on the 24th of June at 11 pm. It's on the foundation that was previously home to the Stardust that was open from 1958 until 2006. Resorts World is the newest casino/hotel to open up on the strip since the Cosmopolitan opened up in 2010. Inside it's super wonderful, lots to see, very friendly staff and an overall welcoming space. I picked myself up some $1s, a $2, $5, $10 and $20 chip for my collection. They have chips going from $1 all the way to $1000 for those that like those higher end denomination chips. Also, there some pictures of the inside at the end of the video!

Hope you enjoy and have an amazing day!

OH WHAT.... dude you are too nice! Sending you a PM, thanks for watching as always. It has been a busy one that's for sure, but there's no stopping.

Today we talk about an interesting TR King casino chip that I got gifted at the CCA Convention by Emilio. Big thanks to him, it's an awesome gift and I wasn't expecting it that's for sure. Let's get to the chip, if I understand it correctly this is a chip that was remanufactured in the 1980s when TR King was making newer Kings Crown casino chips to be sold in the store. This along with 10 Cent, $1, $5, $25, $100, $500 and $1000 chips were manufactured and hot stamped for these sets that they were making. I believe that's where this chip was created with the black base color and 3 different tri-moon edge spots. Let's talk about it, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the chip or if anyone has more detailed information about it that would be amazing!

Here's the link to the video, hope you enjoy!

Hey Oscar, nice video and nice chip! I believe those hot stamp chips were part of a large semi-custom group buy that happened around 2003 or 05? I think there were a few "buys" over the years with the first one started on 2+2 by someone named SlowPlayRay (pre-CT and i think all inlay). Then I kind of recall another one on CT? My memory is a little foggy so maybe a few of the old timers here may recall more details.

Not my chips, but had these pics saved from 2007?

Ooooookay, wow that seemed like an awesome group buy! Wonder if there are more of these black tri-moons out there then. If I remember Emilio said there were many of them. Makes sense as the hot stamp matches and everything. So they probably ordered the dies back in the 80s and manufactured them up until TR King fully closed its doors.

Hi Oscar,

So glad to see you enjoy the chip. Not sure of the history of the chip as I got about 8 of them with a lot of other old TR King inventory. I sold one on eBay a couple years ago that I think Paz bought. I think I also traded one to another TRK lover here (Gmunny) as well. My feeling is that it’s a Manufacturer sample that used the kings crown hot stamp that was so popular. If it were part of a larger set that would be epic. Time will tell. Far as I know it’s just me, you, Paz and Gmunny with any of these. Cool TRK club indeed!

Keep up the great work

E

PS - sone oil will get rid of that “dust” which Doug told me is actually walnut dust they used in the production process. I always thought it was leaded clay dust lol

Now this is awesome! You could be very right about the sample since they only did a select number of them to get the hotstamp machine going and seeing if the pressure, heat and position of the die was right. Could also make sense as to why the "dust" is there, the pressure might have been too much so it made that type of mark on the chip in combination with the dust.

Today we talk about the Kings Castle Casino that was located in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. It was open from the years of 1969 up until 1974. It was opened by Nathan Jacobson who was the former president of Caesars Palace, and he was also an insurance executive and a part-owner of the Baltimore Bullets basketball team. Some mysterious things happened behind the scenes at Kings Castle, but the place was designed to be like a castle out of England. The staff even wore costumes to match what they were doing and it made it quite an interesting experience I'm sure. Kings Castle had some amazing chips produced for the casino. A majority of the chips were manufactured by TR King Co. and then you had a few chips manufactured by Christy & Jones. You could find yourself playing with 50 cent, $1, $5, $25, $100 and $500 chips in the 70s with some amazing artwork. One of my favorite casino chip artworks that is for sure and there are people across the world that can agree with that and their amazing sets they've built. Hope you enjoy!

I know there are tons of people on here that have these sets or have had them like @JWC @gopherblue @Windwalker @liftapint @rjdev7 @PAZ @detroitdad and many many more!

Here's the link to the video. Hope you enjoy and have an amazing Friday!

Oh then a little pr0n from myself. This is the Kings Castle chips that I have so far! 2 Hundos and a $25!

Another great video Oscar! I have a handful of singles but never a true set.

I did however make a semi-custom tribute set on the Tower & Spear China clays and dealer buttons. You can read about that set here.

I was playing around with the idea of making these on CPC scrowns but all quarter pies. To help visual this I put labels on some Kings Crowns.

Also, dice are nice!
