I know he's partially joking, but people don't realize how big Canada is and how much of it is covered by forests with no people around.

I met him once in a sports arena in Sweden where we were both spectators! Good bloke! Seemed nice and down to earth.

At least that's what it looked like from 20 meters. Didn't dare approach...
I’ve met him a couple of times. He’s a really quiet humble guy.

They’ve actually got a sponsor for the box that the trophy was in!!! :ROFLMAO:

This is money grabbing in the extreme.

Now we have that well known football star and holding midfielder Tom fucking Cruise pretending that he’s ever watched a game.

FIFA make me sick.

Wonder if Salt Bae will turn up at the trophy presentation again FFS.

I only support the team who is attacking each time.
And I hate being a spectator, even through cost-free national television.
Turning sports into spectacles is the root of all evil: corruption, organized crime, exploitation by chauvinist regimes, you name it.
Sports should concern the participants only. NO spectator stands and NO radio-video broadcasting/.

the hate stems from racism and blatant propaganda that these all these casuals who only watch football every four years just eat up. Or maybe they are hardcore Ronaldo fans.
you’re joking right - how many yellow cards for Argentina (2) make that (3) - lol.

Maybe stop whining…

I sat through the entire car crash. Who thought that was a good idea???

I’ve never watched a superbowl but I’m guessing that was similar to their halftime show. What a load of shite.

America really doesn’t know how to be understated nor self aware does it?
Shakira was pretty dope though :cool

I know I’m a fair weather soccer fan (only watch big tournaments), but hearing that a goal has never been scored in an American World Cup final is sad, that’s 3.5 hours and counting of gameplay without a goal…I get that many won’t love this take, and that it’s the “beautiful sport”, but there needs to be more scoring in soccer, IMO.

I’m not talking 6-5 like last game, but I think a goal ever 20 minutes on average would be good. Apparently the ave goals/game is 2.75, but I would personally like to see ~4/game. A nice score of 3-2, 3-1, 2-1 etc would be entertaining.

The other thought behind this is for a game to be decided by 1 goal, in a 0-0 game in the 90+ minute is a shame to the rest of the game. A team could dominate overall and the smallest slip up could determine the winner…just doesn’t seem right to me.

That is such an American take. Just make it like basketball and every game can finish 112-109  :ROFLMAO:

Some of the best games I’ve seen finished 0-0.

Admittedly this final is crap.

I think that American sports are suited to that demographic (high scores and no draws) and football should stop trying to force it on to a nation that neither wants it nor understands it.

I went to two baseball games while I was there and it was like watching paint dry. Clearly I don’t get American sports either and that’s fair enough.

I also just found out the ratio of passes to goals on average is 345:1 lol

When goals are actually scored there’s usually 1-4 passes directly leading to the goal. So the other 340 passes are just to keep players warm? 😅

Don’t hate me, I know there’s more to it, but it feels so pointless going back and forth for 10 minutes to finally make scoring chance.

Hey, don’t be associating me with Americans!! 🤣

But I agree, there are extremes in different sports. Basketball on one end where scoring feels almost pointless, and then Soccer on the other where it feels like there’s no scoring, especially since game time is longer than other sports.

And I agree some of the most nail biting games come from 0-0, but that to me should be the exception, not the rule. The same way a really high scoring game can be fun every once in a while.

And this take is sponsored by hockey the greatest sport from my perspective 😉
