Soccer/football needs reform on diving and how it is allowed. It needs to be punished, it's embarrassing for any sport. Not purely blaming soccer but it's the most egregious in soccer and has bled into the NBA and starting to be seen in the NHL.

It's the absolute worst and only makes refs jobs harder and makes situations like these more ambiguous and easier to mess up.

I believe the US can win on Monday. Balogun or not.

Same! I’d go even further, I like our chances…

Been a fan of Belgium and KDB for years, this is not the team of old.

Still, it’s elimination round at the World Cup, every game will be either hard or harder…

I definitely think we are closer to Belgium than the last 5-2 friendly score would seem to imply. We will need massive performances from Pulisic, McKennie and Robinson going forward. Pepi has a good work rate and runs hard, but his finishing is a far cry from Balogun, especially given Balogun's recent form.

I'd play Reyna as the second striker. Not as good at hold up play as Pepi, but they are going to need his talent and creativity.

Belgium can't handle the pace of Robinson and Dest. I'm shoving the ball down Castagne's throat on the right flank. He's that back line's weak link. Robinson and Pulisic will be the X factors.

I don’t get the obscure off sides rules.
Unlike in Hockey, the offside "line" is marked by the last defender back (not including the goalie), so it moves with the last person back and where they are standing.

If an attacker is beyond the last defender before the ball is passed to them it would be an offside play.

Example, player in blue here is offside:

More precisely, the offside line is determined by the second to last defender. Usually the goalkeeper is the last defender, but sometimes is not the case (e.g. gk came out to punch a ball and missed.

Also, no offsides if player is in own half when ball is played, on corner kicks and throw ins.
Correct. I chose to say "last defender back (not including the goalie)" in an attempt to be less confusing as I don't know if he thinks of a goalie as a defender or not. Like in other sports a goalie and a defender are widely regarded as different positions, so you wouldn't even consider a goalie a defender, even though they are the last line of defence lol

For completion: no offside if the player targeted is behind the ball at the moment of pass.
