We will have shirts prepped and ready for the drive up to Philly this week. We’ll fly to Houston next for a round of games. It’s been a long two year wait for the World Cup to get here. I’m super excited. We are rooting for the underdog for Thursday game, solely because they are underdogs!

Making big bet on Draw in the Paraguay game at 10 and betting parlay with turkey as USA has 4 players on yellow cards that will most likely sit. USA has won group already and Turkey will look to save face a little. The Paraguay game features 2 good defense who will both advance with a draw. Can’t see either of them risking that by losing

Had draw in Austria game . Both teams needed a draw to advance. They played the last 15 minutes to draw and not lose until with a minute to play Algeria did a small attack and scored . So it looks like Austria is going home . They go on an all out attack in the next and last minute of play and score with seconds left in the match. Unbelievable.

They lulled them into a false sense of security. 4minutes added on . 93 rd minute Algeria quickly goes forward and scores. Looks like Australia is out and Iran is in except for one thing, Trump doesn’t want Iran in so he makes the call and Austria goes down and scores a miracle goal to tie it up and get back in the final 32 and knocking Iran out. Truth is stranger than fiction.

Playing at home is a huge advantage for these host nations. Canada were good enough to win though - well taken winner there. If you only rate this WC on soccer, this has been fantastic so far.

I'm a bit worried about Sweden's draw in the bracket. It looks like after we beat France in the first round, Germany in the second and Netherlands in the quarter finals we will likely play Spain in the semis. They could pose a problem for us.

I realize it’s the only reason Sweden qualified in the first place, as well as going through to the playoffs, but the 48 nations world cup is a terrible idea.

We have the qualifiers precisely so we don’t have to suffer through games like the one yesterday. Donk on donk action.

Agreed. I hate the concept of "best 3rd places". 32 nations where exactly 2 from each group go through was perfect!

For one, a game like for example Swe vs Japan would have been much more exiting. As it was, the Japanes where through regardless, and the Swedes played to increase there chance of proceeded from fair to certain. Compare that to the two competing between advancing and going home!

Another aspect: How fair is it that some runner-ups play agains other runner-ups, while other runner-ups play against group winners? For example, Japan as runner-ups play against group winner Brazil, while runner-ups Norway play against fellow runner-ups Ivory Coast instead of the winners of that group Germany! With 32 teams you don't get that bullshit!

While I prefer 32, I'd rather have them expand to 64 than this 48 nonsense.

They used to have a 16 team World Cup in they increased it to a 24 team competition in the 80’s that had the best 4 third place teams go through.

It was terrible and led to the 32 team competition. I think that’s how it should stay but FIFA wants to milk every penny. It’s a matter of time before they go to 64 teams.
