I must have killed my Oban 14 a little while back, but it’s also a favorite of mine! Sadly, I don’t have any older Highland Parks either…but I’m definitely a fan of HP!

I like this one here even better!

How to Play "Shoot the Shoe"
  1. Set Up: Place your empty or mostly empty Green River Bourbon bottle flat on a table or smooth surface.
  2. The Line: Have players stand or sit about 5 feet away from the bottle.
  3. The Shot: Take a Green River Distillery coin (or a standard nickel/quarter) and slide it across the table toward the bottle.
  4. The Goal: The objective is to land or slide the coin perfectly into the embossed horseshoe at the bottom of the bottle.
  5. Scoring: You can play "best of 3," "first to 5 points," or simply take turns seeing who can make the shot in the fewest attempts.

Have you ever noticed those sample bottles tainting the whiskey at all? I’ve found I can only keep samples in those bottles for a short bit before they start negatively influencing the whiskey. I’ve heard others say this too. Something about that specific cap/ liner.

If by taint you mean rapid oxidation, I've found the ones I have in 1oz or smaller seem to hold up well in the boston rounds. Sometimes the 2oz w/ polycone don't seal the best.

The best for longer term storage has been the Liquid Ministry bottles, their polycones have a wider lip and an extra ring for the cap, so they can really be cranked down tight.

Had a Brown Forman flight this weekend (had some JD14 b1 after these too)...while I do really enjoy them every once and a while, I think I'd reach for Wild Turkey / Buffalo Trace / really good MGP / Four Roses over BF most days.
