Anyone tried JD 10 Year Batch 4?

It just became available here in Switzerland and I’m wondering if it’s worth picking up.

Okay I know this has been discussed before but can anyone explain what I am looking at here? I’m curious about 4R cause it gets so much love but don’t know where to start. I like high proof and not too sweet. Most of the same stuff that’s popular here except JD which is too syrupy.

That explains the single barrels. The yellow label single barrel is just a barrel strength single barrel of one of the Four Roses ten recipes, and they have released those for years and years. The other single barrels I think are all diluted to 100 proof.

I’ve only had 1 small sample of JD10 batch 1,but I’d have to think all 4 of the batches are quite good in their own way.

If you’re a big fan of their Single Barrels and especially the barrel proof versions, I can’t imagine you’d not like it. The only thing that would hold me back is the price…if it’s at or close to retail, I’d be all over it. The 10yr retails for $90USD with the 12yr being $100 and the 14yr is $150. At least in my state, that’s what they go for in the stores.

With that being said, they’re not the easiest bottle to find (at least for me they aren’t easy finds) I’d probably grab one if possible.

I like it a lot! To me, it’s definitely a little more punchy in the peat department compared to the 10yr. It’s more ashy and spicier (black pepper) than the 10yr as well.

This is frequently on sale around here for $45 and the 10yr is typically $65 most days. One of the better value bottles for sure, especially if you’re a fan of Ardbeg’s core offerings.

Looking at Sagamore 10-year Rye. I remember seeing a ranking here a few weeks ago. Remind me if the 10 is better than the nine. Or at least as good. I was drinking the 9-year Thursday night.
