Youngest finished 5th grade yesterday so he "graduated" Elementary school. So we did pick up at the car line up pretty big. That's the principal in the background with her phone encouraging us.

My 13 year old can solve a Rubik’s cube in 5 seconds, holds the national singles record in the 4x4 cube (21.89s) and regularly beats the older and more experienced competition.

Myself? I couldn’t solve one to save my life.
Is your son Autistic by any chance? My wife's friend is, and he can solve a rubrics cube very fast - maybe not 5 seconds, but it's pretty damn amazing. Math equations are childs play for this kid as well. No offense of course, just curious.

Took my 14 year old to a local minor league game tonight. I decided to splurge and get tickets right behind home plate (they were $16/each, so splurge may be an exaggeration). Anyway, when the home team scored they threw out shirts from the press box right behind and above us. My son caught one and without skipping a beat, he immediately gave it to a 6-7 year old near us that was clearly wanting a shirt. No input from me, no input from those around us, but a lot of appreciation from others in the crowd. Seriously, proud dad moment there! I of course let him know how proud I was of him. He went home with a pretty cool jersey tonight for being a good dude!

Absolutely, none taken. He’s not, but plenty of cubers are, especially the really good ones. There’s a documentary about Max Park, a kid in the states and now one of the very best cubers in the world. He’s very autistic but developed social skills beyond what the parents could imagine through cubing and the community surrounding it. Highly recommend, I saw it on Netflix a few years ago, don’t know if it’s still there.

My son’s placement on the spectra is more in line with nerdy poker chip collectors/poker players ;)
