Got the SPMs in play for a .25/.25 game last night. Using some BCC hot stamps for quarters until the group buy is delivered. I had a nasty case of second best syndrome, and there were a lot of tough beats of set over set and flush over flush. But any night playing is a great night!
@ruskba gotta get some new cards, I used those same exact PS cards for a few months many many years ago, they just were disgusting with hand filth after every session, doesnt matter if it was 1 hour, 30 mins or 3 days of use, i dont know why they collect dirt like they do.

nice setup though, sans PS cards

Yea last night was the last straw. I actually found them after they sat for years and I thought they were dirty from a lot of use so I washed them and put them back in play. And they were grimy as ever by the end of the session. So I will be picking up something new before next month's game.

Had an awesome home game tonight. Full house for the tournament and a very loose cash game to follow. I cleaned up, winning the tournament and tripling up at the cash game. Total take - $1400. I couldn't do anything wrong tonight. Some pics.

A real bad beat.

Bit of a marathon weekend of poker for @chipjoker and I (by our standards). I'm sure some of you play this much every weekend. First game Friday night at jokers. My game (these pics) Saturday night. There is very little overlap in our player pools, so we can have our games the same weekend without over stressing the player pool.

Got the Trops into play. We play the first two hours of dime/dime PLO. We are new to PLO, some newer than others. The game is very limpy/cally. My general strategy for this game is to play quite TAGy... specially in PLO. I didn't see a turn card until the last hand where I had 4433. Flopped A25, two to not my suit. It gets potted, I repot... Three callers. Turn, 2. Same bettor bets, there's a call and then I repot. Bettor folds, caller calls. River is a brick. Caller bets, puts me allin, I call. He shows 55... I guess I should've slowed down in the turn. Oh well. Had some rungood once we got into Holden, 25c/50c. Overall $300 in $980 out.

This was my stack later in the night after making change for other players rebuys... and winning a few more pots.
Love Those Chips!!!

Couple of hands from last night's $.25/.50 cash game.

Flopped JJ vs 99 vs 99, on 88J board. Turned the quads.

Flopped trip 7's vs AA, and went runner runner quads

Interesting story of the night. One of the players JUST this week hit the bad beat jackpot at the Potowatomi Casino, and took home an $86k payday for having the losing hand...

Apparently, my buddy holding :6c::6s: is vs :4s::4d: vs :3h:5h:

Board runs :4h::6h::6d::2h::4c: (something like this)

So in one hand, quad 6's vs quad 4's vs straight flush. Crazy as hell! I saw pics of the hand and the giant check! :) Story verified! What are the odds of THAT hand, lol?

Table share was like 8k each, room share was like $900.

Couple pictures from the game last night.

Second game in a row I hit quads during the tournament. If only I could do this in the cash game!

So we had our first game on the new table and everyone loved it. Last night we spread a $1/$2 NLHE game with a $50 - $200 buy in. Most everyone bought in at $200 so there were a few chips on the table. We used the GV primaries and only had a few $25's on the table after a few rebuys and played with some Da Vinci Jumbo Index cards which everyone loved. I was card dead most of the night but did have a pretty good hand early in the night. I purchased in for $200 and cashed out $346.

Here was the group last night

And here was my hand early in the game. I wish it would have come later in the night. I think I would have extracted a bit more as everyone was playing a bit tight early on. QUAD QUEENS

All in all a great night! (except for the Spurs losing)

He was actually playing. His Grandfather to the left asked the other players if it was okay and they all agreed. He is a student of the game and actually played better than many players I have played in Vegas over the years. He ended up losing $6 for the night (he left early). He even knew table etiquette which really surprised me. I was a bit unsure at first but everyone welcomed him and it did not change them game at all. We played against him as we would any other player.

I find that younger players tend to be the best. They know they're on thin ice, so their behavior tends to be their very best. They pick up on mannerisms quickly and replicate them to fit in, giving them the same etiquette as the rest of the table. Younger kids interested in gaming with adults also tend to be far more intelligent than the average kid too, making him a real threat once he gets some experience under his belt.

On the flip side, old people are the WORST ;) Its like hanging out with Walter Matthau

I was hoping that was the answer. I look forward to playing with my sons... they're just 10 and 8 now... so still a few more years before they're playing for real.

Totally agree! If he comes back I plan on getting him a copy of DB's super system. May have to find another copy since someone has mine.
If he gets real good I can always be his "Stake Horse"!

This kid was 12 and played pretty good. The player with the Spurs cap on is my oldest son who turns 30 this year. He turned out to be s pretty good cash player.

Funny thing he had a bad run and busted out early. He was stuck $280 (too many bad beats). He started dealing and he was tipped about $10 over several hands. The players told him to play again. He took the $10 and ran it up to cash out at $385. Truly a chip and a chair for him last night.

Ha I was thinking the same thing. My daughters are the same age as your sons. I can't wait till they start playing. Hey they're already smarter than me so it shouldn't be too much longer.

@David O real nice setup you got there. Thanx for sharing. I always forget to take live action shots. Maybe deep down, I fear the ridicule from the players for taking pictures.

I just had a poker talk with my 9 year-old last night. He was complaining that lately I've been spending too much time chipping and playing poker and not enough time paying attention to him (which isn't accurate, but that's besides the point). I told him we could remedy that by me teaching him how to play poker. And so it begins (y)

I can remember teaching my boys who are now 24 and 29. Each of them were taken to Las Vegas on their 21st. Birthday. They both have become pretty decent players but the oldest is a darn good cash player. The youngest is still in to beer pong as was my oldest son. I even traveled with them when they each played in the World Series of Beer Pong. What an experience! The youngest is the beer pong player. A couple of years ago I went with him and his team placed 16th which was pretty darn good.

in our family only girls ... :D
I once tried to teach one of the girls to play poker ... but she only build towers from chips ...
and nothing more..

First lesson went well tonight. They chose PCA secondaries, an excellent choice to start off their poker careers. Both my 9 and 6 year old seemed to enjoy it, so that was promising as well. We'll have to work on my 6 year old's tells; after being dealt his 5 cards, he announced that he didn't have any "number cards" in his hand. This prompted a quick head shake and fold by my older son. Then, on the last hand of the night, my 6 year old changed his betting pattern and instead of betting 15 or 20, bet 1 with a big smirk on his face. Again, this was met with instafolds by my older son and me. Of course he flopped the nut flush and thought he was being sneaky. We'll have to work on that :)

Sounds like too much fun. I am putting together a 25/50 game together for the young kid who played with us the other night. Kids are fun and if they are going to start then you need to get them started on the right path.

Sounds like you need to start reading Caro's book of tells to them at bedtime!!

That's awesome.

I told my daughter like 3 years ago that when she turned 8, I would teach her how to play poker. Well, her 8th birthday is coming up this year, and guess what I hear about almost every day now??? (I have never brought it up myself since then...)

That and now my 4 1/2 year old son is obsessed with games now. I mean OBSESSED. Any board game or card game, he's into it, even though he can't read yet and can't really play most of them. Every single night I walk in to "come play this game with me now!!!!111!!!!1!!"

It's gonna be really fun in a few more years. :D
