No more auctions (2 Viewers)

The bottom line is that people are auctioning off nearly everything now and it's not beneficial to the community in the long run. There are certainly certain chips that may fit the bill for an auction sale but if every single sale is an auction it's not good. (Disclaimer - since apparently everything needs a disclaimer on this site - THIS IS MY OPINION) Other opinions are welcome too. There have been many constructive posts in this thread actually.

My honest perspective:
Idc how anyone sells their chips as far as for my own personal reasons. I am only in the market for less than 500 more chips total and im practically done. And I don't even need them and don't plan on buying them anytime soon. I have a lot of other expenses coming up including weddings and houses that are going to prevent me from even buying chips if I wanted to. So I'm satisfied. I was trying to look out for people like YOU.

Now are you just part of the dogpile or do you have anything constructive to say? Do you always go around shitting on everyone sharing their opinion or just me? Cuz there are often lots of opinions going around on many different topics.
I could understand all the different points of view, but would disagree with anyone that says there is one way that always works. If for some reason people HAD to change and use only one method, I think @BGinGA had the best idea for what would work most. Beyond that, I heavily disagree with anyone here sharing their opinion to protect ME. As a newish chipper with limited knowledge, I have handfuls of people in this community ready to bend over backwards to catch me up to speed, and I have a plethora of options in how to gain new chips.

I just recently reached out in wanting to get a cash set going, and was pointed to current sales, group buys, and some chips that weren't even up on the site. While I'm still looking through those, I was lucky enough to win a Matsui Cash Set via Navels auction that I wouldn't have looked at or chosen otherwise. Sure Navel didn't quite get what he was looking for cash wise, but he still gets money for something he's not using today, and the knowledge that I'll likely offer or help hand these over to another new chipper or someone needing these one day. It's just one little example, but still, pretty big impact for me.

Hmmmm... sorry again I don’t quite agree. In 99% of America the alternative to driving your own car is not really a real alternative.

Then again if someone invited me to a game that use dice chips I prefer to not play.

:vomit:
soooooo… I take it you do not want to buy my dice chips huh?

Fate has been cruel to him; six months in coma and six years unable to walk (a man born in 1969 like me), due to off-piste skiing.
Even if he manages to walk again (which I wish him wholeheartedly), I wouldn't like to be in his shoes, despite all his billions

Worst thing about auctions lately is the “participation” bids. That joke isn’t funny anymore, and it’s annoying to scroll past a bunch of nothing bids. Make a real bid, and if your not interested then follow without posting.
Just bid it up then :D

Looks like some homemade mashup that somebody threw (up) together with bits from the scrap yard. If Fiat paid a designer (if you could call them that) to come up with that POS, heads should have rolled. I've seen some really bad looking cars in my day (Aztek, Cube, Pacer, etc...) but for an actual production car that takes the top spot.

Skoda Yeti anybody?

The aesthetic problem was fixed, though, in the next year's model:

At any rate, most versatile and sensible car in the universe, especially if "your other car is a Porsche":D

Agreed on this. However I think auction is a kind of price discovery too. Works both ways!

  • If you were in the boat buy, you're an asshole.
  • If you bought chips from someone IN the boat buy, you're an asshole for encouraging their behavior.
  • If you don't sell boat chips at GPI costs, you're an asshole.
  • If you don't sell BTP chips at GPI costs, you're an asshole.

Was away from the forum for a couple years, whats up with these boat/BTP chips? How did they come to be? Searched the forum group buys looking for threads related to them but can't find anything.

Boat chips... some chippers got a couple orders (Empress Star/Aurora Star) through GPI under the guise of operating a casino cruise line.

Big Top Poker / Truman’s House / et al... some chippers got personal sets made through GPI using a real casino contact, and telling Paulson the chips were a gift for some “VIP guests.”

Due to their clandestine nature, these projects were not public group buys.
