Hey,

I am new to the forum and I am looking for some advice on a poker storage cabinet I plan to build. And when I say build, it is more of a refurbish. My wife and I recently got new nightstands that match, and her old one was a solid hard wood cabinet that I dont want to go to waste. It is a 2 drawer nightstand that doesnt currently have slides (just friction drawers which is partially why we decided to get new nightstands)

I was thinking of just removing the cross beam in between the two drawers and installing 4 chip drawers with nice slides. My issue becomes how to source the actual trays for inside the drawers. I was hoping to do some sort of wooden inventory rack but the prices I have found online are sky high (and very hard to find).

Do you guys have any recommendations for either hardware or just other cool ideas i could incorporate into this project?

Welcome, tons of great info here, enjoy! Also lots good people to answer your question

3D print the trays and cover with felt

Depending on how handy you are, I would opt to carve and cure a piece of wood myself for the trays.

Something like these?

Yup. Obviously takes a lot of handy work but looks superb when executed properly.

@Sparkynutz is 3D printer on here that sells chip storage solutions, if you wanted to hit him up and see if you could custom curate a solution to sit perfectly in your drawers.

Since you're DIY'ing the project, if you want raw wood rows milled, I can supply you with those. I just won't do any post processing like adding sides, sanding, etc. Just be warned that when you mill rows int wood, it wants to curl up since one side has a bunch of material removed.

I also do 3d printing I currently make and sell display racks for tubes but wouldn't mind venturing into printing trays to fit for you. @Sparkynutz has offered to share his STL files with me so I don't think he would mind me printing it for you. However not here to poach any of his potential business. If interested you can DM me and him in the same message with measurements and we could come up with a good solution for you.

Here is the racks and tubes I sell if you just want to put one of these on each shelve? Racks are 10$ the clear tubes are 1$ each (new version will also have an optional carousal spinning feature. pics are from @vulp1337 and @ChipTalker
