Here’s a new set of ceramic chips I just got. I went with a pirate theme for these.

Joe at PGI offered a $.20 special if they picked the edge spots and we provided the artwork. He promised me they’d pick edges that would look good with the chips, and they did!

My artwork was done by Ken Scott at the Poker Chip Artist (info@pokerchipartist.com). I’ve used Ken several times. He’s quick and I love the work.

I had to re-do a couple of chips due to my own error in choosing chip colors that didn’t work well, and decided to do custom edges for them. Joe was actually nice enough to give me a bit of a discount on those two chips. Thank you Joe! Joe and Ken did great work and I’m very pleased with the chips. My players love them!

I’m sorry the pics aren’t better, but I’m not much of a photographer.

Generally, I’ve always thought it would be nice to have a set of ceramics. Though I thought the ceramics I’ve actually seen were a bit slick, I liked what you could do with the artwork. These have a linen finish and stack quite well. They are of uniform size (though I lacked the tools to measure precisely).

The “Cross-Bones Inn” letters are made of bones if you can’t tell. Ken came up with the name “High Seas Casino.” I loved it as it fit the theme quite well. The pirate scarf matches the outer edge of the chip. The background is a light blue (ocean color) and the red denominations look a like a blood color that is starting to drip. Ken came up with that – he’s very creative! The denominations and letters are very easy to read.

Below is my review of the individual chips, and below that are the chip pics.

Blue – 1 – 105 chips
The solid blue edge is almost a perfect match for the top. These chips won’t see much use -- purchased for single table tournament with 400-1000 starting chips and SB/BB of 1/2.

Red – 5 – 105 chips
The matching red edge has 6 gray spots. Edge matched the chip well. These chips won't see much use -- purchased for single table tournament with 2,000-5,000 starting chips and SB/BB of 5/10.

Green – 25 – 325 chips
The matching green edge has 6 gray spots. Edge matched the chip well. These chips will see a lot of use as almost every tournament I'd do would use them.

Black – 100 – 425 chips
The solid black edge is almost a perfect match for the top. These chips will see a lot of use as every tournament I'd do would use them and they definitely fit the theme.

Lavender – 500 – 125 chips
The lavender edge is matched to the top, with 4 black and yellow edge stripes. I customized the edges on these. These chips will see a lot of use as every tournament I'd do would use them.

Yellow – 1,000 – 215 chips
The dark pink edges have 2 wide yellow edge spots and 2 wide lighter pink edge spots. All 4 edges (evenly spaced) have a very thin black border that sets the edge apart. The combination actually looks pretty cool and colorful.

Gray – 5,000 – 210 chips
The matching light gray edges have 4 Red-White-Black edge spots. I customized the edges on these. These chips will see a lot of use as most tournaments will use these chips.

Orange – 25,000 – 165 chips
The blue edge has 2 wide orange spots; the orange spots match the tops. I really like these chips.

Pink – 100,000 – 45 chips
The matching pink edge have 6 light gray spots. These chips will not see much regular use – about 2-3x/year we change the starting stacks to use bigger chip values.

Spike, I think the deal ended at the end of November. I think he offered it to train a new guy to make the chips. I had no intention of buying chips at the time, but couldn't resist at $.20/chip, even if I didn't get exactly the edge spots I wanted. Thanks for the comment!

Congrats - that's a heck of a price! The edges on the 1000 are a bit "iffy" IMO but overall I think they picked some nice spots for you. Enjoy :)
