I mentioned what a card whore I am in another post but I'm not sure this post will even represent the true depth of my passion.
Over the years I have purchased, used and given away a wide assortment of plastic playing cards.
At a visit to the Gambler's General Store in Vegas I picked up my first deck of Kems. I just thought they were pretty. At the time I didn't have a home game so these were used to play Euchre and only rarely at that. They may be the only set of Kems that haven't warped.
To be honest, I haven't a clue how I got these cards. Ahh those where the days.
There was a time when I would write articles for Rakeback.com. Around Christmas one year I got a package from Hong Kong with this deck of cards and a satin jacket.
I loved, LOVED the 4 color deck option when I played online. These cards where so awesome but some of the home game players despised them so they didn't get much use. I can't bring myself to get rid of them though.
A good friend was at a Chicagoland casino during the HPT. He asked me if I wanted a set of their branded cards. The answer was a resounding, "Duh!".
A random nice set of Kems.
Modiano Platinum. I love these cards but they tend to have the ink rub off. I have one player that loves to rotate his cards repeatedly.
Davinci are some of the best value cards out there. I have used and donated a bunch of these cards. FYI, nursing homes and elder homes love to get used playing cards especially if they are jumbo index.
Two still sealed Bicycle setups waiting to be played with. I have another one or two that are open.
A home game player honeymooned in Italy and brought me these. They are adorable but virtually impossible to shuffle because they are so stiff.
The same guy brought me these. We've never played with them but we really should some time. Most of us really need the jumbo index so that would make it a little harder to get them to even want to try these out.
I found these on Amazon or eBay when I was looking for some cards - I'm always looking for more cards. The quality control is lacking but the card feel is really nice. The backs are actually heavily textured. But, that is an issue with the constant card movement causing them to wear quickly. The good news is they are very cheap for Copags.
After reading about the J Design cards on this forum and seeing them around for some time now, I bit the bullet and ordered a couple setups after joining this forum. I took one to another home game; they reception was mixed but I understand they've used them more than once. I tried them at my game but, while they are gorgeous, they were difficult to read from across the table and they were slow on my poker hoody topper. We all struggled to get them down the table. I may just give them to the other game since I don't really see us using them in my game.
You degens are a really bad influence on me. Today I ordered a set up of the Faded Spade cards.
Not shown but owned in the past:
Guild Black and Gold. Lovely cards but the ink faded badly. They were donated.
Modiano Cristallo. I owned a bunch of these that have been donated. Today I bought two more decks to show the home game. Many of them weren't around when I had the first sets of them.
I was in Vegas during the 2007 World Series. I think I got one set of these on a subsequent trip to Vegas from the Gambler's General Store but the sealed set was bought online in 2010. They've been in my kitchen cabinet for years.
I'm so glad they moved beyond the poker peek cards.
Sorry for the long post. Please, don't tempt me with any more cards. My bankroll can't handle it.
