My Journey As A Professional Poker Player (82 Viewers)

I don't know if I would say "Texas Freerolls" are predatory, but they are definitely misleading. The first time I ever played poker was at one of these freerolls at the kard klub in Killeen. There wasn't an entry fee but you basically had to get the addons to be relevant in any way. I thought it was pretty weird at the time despite barely understanding poker.

Yeah, it just seems that EVERYONE does the same type of tournaments with a small entry fee but then a gazillion options to rebuy and add-on. You have pretty much zero chance unless you run purer than Poker Jeezus himself, to win if you just pay the initial $30 entry fee and have to compete against the rebuy maniacs.

So definitely misleading when the real cost of the tournament if you want to have an actual shot is going to be 7-8 times that.

I'm not saying it's good for the game - it's not. But it's hard to ignore the logic behind "If you get lucky, you can win" from an owner's point of view.

Slot machines: everyone knows the odds are stacked against you, but entire casinos succeed using nothing but slot machines for their income.

The lottery: "Someone is going to win, why not me" is the prevailing logic, despite the house edge of 50-60%.

Both these systems of dumb luck (emphasis on dumb) provide steady income flows to the proprietors. People can lose forever, and never give up. If the owners can grind out a profit on suckers, will it ever kill the game? Slot and lotto players say "no".

Headsup for my poker friends and operators out there.

Two Cuban cheaters I got caught five years ago in Florida are up to their old tricks and I just got them caught here in Austin TX.

Be on the lookout for these scumbags and please share this video to get the word out and keep them off the felt!

Are those the AliExpress chairs?

I had two of my players suggest calling ICE - one conditioned on the house not taking action and the other just calling ICE rather than bothering getting the floor involved.

Not sure this would be very welcome in a grey area Texas gambling room, but I can imagine it being effective. -=- DrStrange

Info keeps pouring in. These guys also play NLH, there's some who've mentioned they've also used ink to mark cards, there's been mention one had a "device" in their pocket, etc. But it seems gouging the edges of the cards seems to be the most common method.

I now have full names but there's also talk that one of them was going by the name "Mike" and I've had rooms tell me they've banned these guys years ago but then others saying they ran into them in those rooms recently. So they may have fake ID's/Names they're using beyond the information I've found so far

Did you start a thread specifically on this? Might help get it more visibility.

Played my first RunGood tournament today at The Lodge. An Ambassador Bounty tournament (special players had bounties on them)

Chipped up pretty nicely, table was mostly soft to start. Later managed to get lucky with blinds at 1500/2500/2500 when UTG limps, shorty shoves UTG+1 for 12K, I rip 60K with JJ and the limper snaps with QQ. I flop AKT with a flush draw and hit the 5 of my suit on the turn to more than double.

We eventually get 10 from the money, blinds are 3K/6K/6K and I have 80-90K in my stack. Folds to competent BTN who raises to 17K, I rip with A7 off in SB, he snaps and I say "show me KQ" and he turns over KQ.

Flop 999...........Q...........8 and I bust 10 from the money. But my pain wasn't over, not by a longshot.

I get into their 2/2 PLO game and we're down to 4-handed. UTG limps, I'm BTN with KTT7 suited to my King and pot to 10, SB calls, BB repots to 45, UTG calls, I call, SB calls, $180 in the middle

Flop is fucking T77 with two spades, giving me the nuts AND blockers to quads.

They all check to me, I want to pull them in but also build the pot so I bet $35 into 180, making it look like a cheap steal attempt. ALL THREE CALL! I'm fucking CELEBRATING inside)

Turn is an 8......................of spades.

They all check to me. I have $220 behind and there's $320 out there. I want to deny equity from the BB who I suspect has an overpair, so I just rip it. SB fish snaps and turns over...............J953 with the fucking J9 of spades for the miracle gutshot straight flush one-outer to fuck me.

I really do feel like I committed war crimes in a previous life.

Honestly bro you should be happy to lose there because the player clearly sucks and he won the lot so he’s gonna a keep making moron decisions and you’ll win in the long run

You'd think that. But when you watch the fish dump all their money to everyone else, and then hit miracles against YOU for stacks, it starts to take its toll

Got it in with AA54 vs AK44 preflop awhile back, a ridiculous spot where I think I had 78% equity in PLO preflop, just fucking unheard of

And of course flop is KK2

I'm growing VERY tired of the runbad, it really feels like it never ends
