After months of research, weeks of planning, days of sawing sanding and shaping, and hours of stapling, my build is complete! It’s a 7’ by 4’ topper that will be used for our monthly home game, once Covid rules allow. I chose the colour combinations to work with the decor and to make it look like it should be in the room permanently, not just brought out every 4 weeks.

Well done. Looks like a great space.

Be sure to post some photos in the home games thread once you start hosting games again!

Looks great! Be sure to post some live action pics when you get an opportunity!

Great job! I love the dimensions! Does the light diffuser really float above the racetrack? No issues with cards going in there? How is the diffuser attached to the rail?

thanks for the kind words. I managed to find flexible diffuser strips and they attach to the rail with simple wooden blocks. I think its an optical illusion re the floating, the diffuser strips have a slight curve to them.

Nice. I just started my own build raises rail. I’m thinking twice on lights. What did you use if you don’t mind me asking?

Hi, I used 5050 RGB colour changing LED strip, it came in a 10m length and has a remote control, but is also WiFi enabled and compatible with Amazon Alexa. i have created some routines with Alexa, I can say ‘Alexa All In’ and the room lights dim, the table turns red, and the speaker plays a heartbeat sound adds a little drama to the occasion.

Lol oh wow! Great tips. Thanks. Did you put the strip inside a flexible channel or straight up glued on?

Inside a flexible diffuser, 18mm milky white, screwed to wooden blockers attached to the underside of the rail. Really pleased with how professional it looks

Cool I’m liking it! That actually helped me. Now I gotta figure out how long of strip and channel I need.

This is great. I had to stare at awhile to get the concept lol:LOL: . I wanted a higher rail. I was wondering how to do that channel for the strips. Make sense now. Thanks!

Anyone know of a macro guide to do something similar with Google / Philips Hue lighting?
