Grandfather who passed away last weekend (Jack), who was a life long fisherman and was always chasing the next Musky.

Going to be spending some time going through thousands of lures to find the right ones to inspire the set.. but already finding some good early potentials.

One pile (of many) tackle boxes:

Edit: Done/sent for production..

I've caught so many pike and musky on those Buchers along with Grandmas and Suicks.

Good times.

You'll be shocked at what those lures are worth these days.

So sorry for your loss. This looks like it has the makings of an outstanding tribute set. Followed with keen interest...

I've about hit the limit for what I can do without a computer. Here's what I'm thinking generally for the inlay

Oh man! Land O Lakes. You must be just over the WI border in the UP.

...I actually had that keyed in one of my designs for the northwoods. ...My kids LOVE the Black Oak lake beach. ...best beach in Wisconsin.

The cottage we stay at is around the Minocqua/Lac Du Flambeau area - so going with one of those. might Might even go with Boulder Junction, as we love that area as well.

Your chip/design concept is dead-nuts awesome...

Granpa‘s lures are always the best!
I‘m sorry for your loss.

Great concept and act of yours.
I‘m in for a sample set!!

Heck yeah, we're likely going to head over to Minocqua tomorrow and hit Alexander's up for some pizza. Not the same as the one that closed a few years back in Eagle River, but my kids love it still.

Our cabin is on Lac Vieux Desert.. actually made a previous chip of it. Inlay:

I haven't had their pizza yet. That'll be on the docket for our next Minocqua visit. :)

Our whole family highly recommends Black Bear Bar on HWY 70....

.....Great pizza. Great wings/chicken tenders with the best damn ranch dressing we've ever had. FFFF....it's so good. Great vibe. And man, the dinner rush is always packed. ...very kid friendly. Our kiddos are 10 and 12.

A few years ago, we almost bought a cottage on Landing Lake - one of the best properties I've seen in a LONG time - spent too much time hemming and hawing over it, and someone swooped it up. ...I'm going to kick myself over this one for the rest of my life. The cottage wasn't entirely great - it would have been fine as is - but the property was.... it's what I see when I think of when it come to the northwoods... The Land of Sky Blue Waters...

The lake views were among the best I've seen.

So...we're still on the prowl for a good spot.

have one lake with a raw fully wooded lakefront lot for $600K, and about 2000 ft away, around the corner, is a finished move-in ready beautiful log home with walkout basement, dock, four car garage for $950K, great lake views, on our favorite fishing and paddling lakes. The lakefront lot price is blowing my mind.

Did produce your Cratty House Poker chips? Love the name of your lake.

...I'll be posting an update to my Northwoods Hideaway chips in a bit. Looking to go the Tina Hybrid route now - so re-working the chip colors and spot design right now.

Yeah, amazing how prices are climbing these days.

Yeah, I produced the set in a Tina group buy a couple months back.. should be in in the next few weeks. Samples from Tina:

And saw those northwoods hideaway chips, excited to see where you take them!

Think I'll call it for the night and sleep on them... but liking the general direction.

Edit - changing around chip.. will also update to $20 denom for small stakes cash set.

Will come back to 25c (blue) and 5 (red) denoms next.

Edit 2: for reference.. total set, small stakes cash to be based upon these -

Such a cool idea. Love how each Musky Bait can inspire the chip and spot colors.

Have you looked at these without the bait being tied (sans fishing line). I'm not sure it's needed.

WOW! Small world!
I remote camp with buddy's every year at Bittersweet Lake off HWY 70 near Minocqua.

Met up with a bunch of PCF guys for Northwoods MTTD like 30 minutes from there a few years back.

Would be cool to do it again!

Thanks!

And I'm fairly tied to (pun intended) the line. I wanted the inlay to be subtle, but make it seem like the lures are under water. Have a bit of weeds in the bottom of the background, and the hook pulling on the text. I did just adjust the stroke and background lightness slightly to make the weeds a bit more noticeable though:

This chip is going to look insanely good in stacks!

Thanks!

Oh! Didn't know that was exactly what you were doing - but totally get it.

....might need to lighten the background a bit further to make those weeds more noticeable.

A great way to see how the design works, is squint. ...Really helps you see where things fall apart. Especially when you're designing a 1" or so label/inlay...

No joke, I've been printing them out at size, cutting them out, and sitting them on a chip to see what it looks like in place. Even if the chip is a cheap one and not the same as what it's gonna look like in the end, it really gives me a good look at how the inlay is going to work. Designing my first fully custom set now but have done printing on smallish labels for a fair number of things and nothing quite beats actually seeing a physical mock up.

Yeah, thanks and agree it's not done yet. I'm actually trying to make it somewhat difficult to see so that only people really looking find some of these details. Otherwise the inlay also becomes too cluttered if I make it too noticeable as well.. but I do think I need to toy a tad more, likely a slight lightening of the stroke.

In the end though, I also plan on likely doing a table topper, where it should be more noticeable at the much larger size too.

Edit.. closer. Might run with this. Think a better balance and gives me a good shot with printing.. but recognize I may lose it some or completely at this size.

Edit.. 5, also reduced stroke a bit.. felt a bit cluttered:

Beautiful mockups, what chips are you putting these designs on?? I’d take a sample set if you are going to sell one.

Tina 43mm web molds, will definitely have enough for a few sample sets and let you know. Also just paid for them under this months group buy (will likely need to finalize design tonight), so expecting I'll get in September/October.

Edit: Adding dealer button
