Yes. It was a 6,000 chip custom TRK Rounders set. Probably about $1.15 per chip in 2005 (maybe 2006), right before TRK closed down from what I understand. I still do not know who ordered the original custom set, but 3,000 of the 6,000 showed up in France in 2015 and were sold to a handful of PCFers. I bought 450 of them at that time, and shortly there after, @MegaTon44 did all the heavy lifting and headed out on a mission to accumulate all 6,000 of them. What I paid...nobody knows  :whistling: (well one person knows).:cool

Was the first to buy from Julien....and build the nicest tourney set you can imagine...untouched TRK teddies maaaaaan (I lost my shit when he posted the motherload)
I only sold it because a) I wanted to buy a new GSA and the buyer was one of the nicest members you can image @MegaTon44 This set was never in the Classifieds.
They now rest (in an active way) at a member I find equaly awsome @Seeking Alpha Social Club

Just hope @Godzilla28 will eventualy end up with some tourney chips

I really don’t know where you folks get all of your money....
I get this alot from friends who know I don't make bank but have alot of firearms and poker chips. It's taken 17 years to amass the collections, time always helps when you are collecting. Then, it doesn't require much money, just alot of time...

That was kadrik.

He has redeemed them. Sadly.

The second Dunes set above that @72o posted, notice the $500 and $1000 chips are NOT baccarat chips. Bergs had those I believe. The set I posted was all Baccarat. The $25k Dunes baccarat chips are about $300 each, and I think only two racks exist.
I love this. But not Scrub Donkey enough. These can be redeemed for my money.

Seriously, I have thought about putting together an Aria or Bellagio limit set. It would only cost $6k.

2000 x $1
200 x $20

FYP
I would not own half of the chips I own without some AWSOME members I call friends (I could post 30 names and still forget 20...so i'm not)
But you know who you are :)

Yeah, all of you a scrub donkeys and not friends. There, I said it.

A recent chipchat auction was around $250-300 for one. Some bastard just got the 100-500-1000-5000-25000 combo on eBay BIN for $40, but I'm not sad I missed that or anything.
What’s a chip chat auction?

What’s a chip chat auction?

Doug Saito ( on thechipboard) has three(?) chip auctions a year. one is held before the annual chip convention, one in Oct, and I think the other in Jan/Feb timeframe. Singles mostly... most higher dollar chips.

Doug Saito runs an auction about three times a year for expensive single chips. 95% are Nevada chips, but some others sneak in from time to time, mostly Cali. You can mail him your bids for the first month or so, then the high bid at that point becomes the starting bid at the live auction, which I think is always in Vegas somewhere. The next one should start soon. There is always a preview on thechipboard forum.

Edit - you should see some of the prices that some of the most bland, boring, solid hot stamped chips go for. But if there are only five known chips from some hole-in-the-wall short-lived casino, there are certainly more than five collectors who want to have one chip from every Nevada casino ever, and you can see where some of the prices can go. I was going to collect one of every USA inlaid fractional clay chip ever. I saw some chip chat prices for some Nevada fracs and changed my goal to every USA inlaid non-Nevada fractional clay chip ever.

Are those rare? I have a bunch of racks.

/ducks/
That's the risk in the singles collecting hobby. Somebody's $3000 Jessie Beck snapper was worth about $50 after the JB Hoard was discovered. I've seen it happen to a few other chips too just in the last few years. $100 is about my limit on risk for a single.

How old were you when you started collecting?

In our house we spend all of our play money. Once bills are paid and savings is collected, the rest goes...somewhere. At least with poker chips they can hold value. Tried telling my wife it’s like just putting money to the side...(she’s not yet convinced we need a JACK set)

So I started when I was 22. 39 now..... Didn't get anything of quality until 2005, but it's been a very slow burn until about 2 years ago

You did what I would have done if I saw it sitting there underpriced by $250-300 or so.
Already had 10 views on it so I was still surprised I got it but lucked out. How’d you see it if it was after it was bought? I thought they drop off the saved search lists at that point.
