PCR or WTHC? (1 Viewer)

Now that I have a grail set, I feel like I can take my time piecing together some other difficult to acquire set. What do people think about Private Card Room vs WTHC? Essentially the same chip but hot stamps vs labels. Definitely seems like WTHC, as expensive as they are, are more accessible. I'm personally on the fence as to which I prefer. What's the PCF crew say?

Get samples of both if you can, even though the clay is the same, inlaid vs hotstamped chips feel and play a little differently. I think you'll pay a higher premium for WTHC, but there are definitely more of them out in the wild than PCRs.

I've had both, decided to keep the PCRs. To me they feel more elegant, and the name is more generic.

I hear that. I do like both that it's not some random name/fictional hotel (i've griped about that before and why I was drawn to the LeNoirs) and then the vibe of the PCR name feels sort of underground/high roller

It's actually against forum policy to have a grail set with less than 100 posts. I suggest you turn 'em in.

Really a matter of preference. But also might make a difference with what you can find first. WTHC are definitely going to be more expensive. So make sure your budget is ok with that.

Also, there was a PCR 2.0 run. You could mix and match if you get some of each.

Also look at the Avalon, which I believe are the same as PCR 2.0

I used to own a set of PCR 1.0. Sold them to get a set of Avalon. Sold those later too lol. I have a friend that has the WTHC, so I've played with those too. More 'chip color' and clay on the hot stamps. Though shaped inlays on the WTHC. So you really can't go wrong either way. Also consider that if you put heavy use on the PCR, the hot stamps will eventually start to show wear vs. the WTHC which wont.
