Most expensive home set? (1 Viewer)

Nice try, GPI employee that's trying to weed out which employee commissioned the most recent unauthorized home market chips. I'm not going to rat anyone out.

Kidding aside, I've spent on average about $2.50 a chip on my Jack Detroit cash set that I've been building. Comes out to about $1800 for a 800 chip set.

I've heard and seen some here paying well over $5 and up to $8 a chip for sets in my short time here.

I thought the OP was talking about home chip lines/fantasy sets but I see how there’s possible confusion

Some people have easily spent 5 figures to get one large, matched set.

I'm a total piker. My CDI98 set is probably approaching 1800 chips (including the murder/relabels) so I'm guessing that's about $4200 spent, maybe a little more.

Most ambitious project I’ve ever seen: Tropicana First Edition TRK set. @41Pickup

Truly a labor of love and exercise in patience.

I've bought several sets at $5K+, and I sold a large PCA set for $11K to a PCFer.

Largest single-set price I know of was around $500K $240K (cash and tourney chips).

(edited -- looked up the actual numbers)

Wow, $500K? Was it here on PCF. What type of set was it. Or history of the set/casino?

I have seen pictures of vintage ivory sets that must have been worth a fortune. Single chips sold for hundreds of Dollars each < back when it was clearly/easily legal to buy and sell such things > .

I had an opportunity to chase after a "low end" ivory set in an auction, but once I studied how much it might cost, I decided I was way, WAY out of my depth. I wouldn't be shocked to see six figures or more should a nice set change hands for cash.

I normally think chip sets are meant to be used. However, it might be hard to keep that point of view with antique chips worth $500+ each.

Maybe I would feel differently after I earned my first billion -=- DrStrange

Someone is using live Bellagio chips including the $20s and $100. Who was that crazy ass donkey?

Edit: Found Kadrik’s set of live chips. Not sure if this was the full set.

He has redeemed them. Sadly.

The second Dunes set above that @72o posted, notice the $500 and $1000 chips are NOT baccarat chips. Bergs had those I believe. The set I posted was all Baccarat. The $25k Dunes baccarat chips are about $300 each, and I think only two racks exist.
