Final update for the night. What do you think to flipping the colors and making the nickel red? The pink is now a $5 chip.

red nickel, purple $25, white hundo, midnight $12, green $500

i believe the more complex spot pattern on the 5c needs to be swapped with the $5

Edit. to allow for more spot progression you could also consider reduce the complexity on the 12 to be half "5 spots" and half "3 spots" to be in between the $5 and $25

I also need one more thing: I need to find the side spots. Apparently when Woody made the Midnight artworks, he included the side patterns on the .jpgs but not in the original .ai folder. I really don't know how that ended up being a thing.

Anyways, I'll take feedback today and tomorrow and send the changes to the new artist on Friday.

Now that new 5-center would make a really great $5!
I agree with Larry, pink is a difficult chip to work around. The Pastel line up in the first listing with the Lavender $5 (post #16) I thought it worked well other than the White on that nickel made it a bit too loud with the darker tones on the Lavendar $5.

Here it just seems out of place. Red $5 white nickel... a bit more traditional but also what is so wrong with traditional!

Red and pink in the same line up and on the table at the same time is very difficult to pull off IMO

Maybe a Brown (main color)/peach or orange frac with a Red $5... not against seeing the Pink $5 stay in the line up but the edge spots would have to be spiced up a bit and then maybe Lavendar on the $12 chip to keep the Pastel colors alive, also that $12 is going to be dangerously close to the $100 in real life and low lighting.

Just thinking out loud gents

Dave actually had a good idea re: the $12 chip. He suggested a special inlay that showed the chip almost looking like a clock with the $12 on the top, or have an inlay with a pair of hands heading towards 12, to separate it clearly. He sent me messages on Whatsapp for about an hour last night discussing ideas to make this a thing.

What about just replacing the moon on the $12 chip with a clock face pointed to midnight? That way it wouldn't take away from the overall theme of the chips.

Just a few messages.

The main ideas I mentioned besides having a feature $12 chip, like feature $8 chips in other sets, was mainly focused around colours and inlays to clearly distinguish the cash set from the tourney set.

I suggested using cali colours as the 25 would be purple instead of green and white for the hundo instead of black.

I suggested for the inlay to use a front facing image of the midnight casino and have to text go around the chip.

Ultimately Steve is looking for feedback from all of us so it probably best to share what was discussed here so everyone that is interested thus far can comment on my suggestions also.

Give me that pink as a quarter, the yellow as a $1, the red as a $5, and the black as a $20 and I'm in for a thousand, at least. That spot progression would be outstanding...
Spot progression was another talking point. Didnt want to add it to everything thing else currently being discussed. But now that its been mentioned. There is definitely a need to talk about that also.

Would you order change if the colours were different on those chips you picked out or did you select those colours based on your preference for the progression?

Both. Colors and progression are right on the money -- mine, at least.

I can see why you'd want the red $5 chip. If we do that, we should keep the others as is, make the pink chip a nickel and then work on spot progression.

I know that @davislane had some ideas including a 3-spot for the nickel, I'm going to let him discuss his ideas since I was trying to work out when I did this.

I don't want to have to change colors for everyone, so I am going to try something that should be good for all involved.

I do see his point with the spot progression though. What does everyone think of a 3-spot on the nickel? If not, then make the pink one the nickel.

This is going to go through some revisions before final print for sure. :)

Those of you who wondered what the pink would look like with 3 spot progression,, here you go
with 3 spot progression the number on spots and denominations changes accordingly to align with number of spots. So in this instance 3 ovals would allign with the three spots and the 3 denoms would sit in between.

Some ideas I have been floating around:

Idea 1: keep the Cali cash theme, make the 25 purple. The 100 white and the 12 will be some dark color. The $500 plaque would be green if we do this.

Idea 2: flip the nickel and $5 chips, make the nickel chip white but keep spot progression, or keep the pink but make it just 3 spots and 3 nickel amounts. This will be good for pltrgyst because he'll have his spot progression the way he likes it and it will be good for Ben because he won't have the issue with the color contrast (although I will be the first to say I LOVE the pink chip). Add a little more contrast between the chip color and the spot colors on the 1's and 25's. Keep the 100 as is. I REALLY like that one.

I doubt we'll have a problem with contrast between the cash 100s and the tournament 100s since the tourney 100's have no spot color other than white.

Idea 3: open to other feedback.
