Midnight Casino 2021 update (1 Viewer)

As you probably know, the reason I didn't do a cash set for the Midnight Casino was because I have five cash sets already. (I'm hearing some of you yelling "Amateur!".) Also I had heard some demands for a second run.

I haven't heard from the Wood-ster or much of anything. I imagine with Covid still sticking everyone at home he is busier than heck and if he still has his health problems, I do not want to cause him any undue stress, But here are my thoughts on the second run:

Tournament: second run will be the same chips as the first one, Sunfly 43mm Polyinno, Polychrom bounties and octagonal rebuys, and 60mm dealer buttons because let's be honest, 60mm dealer buttons are da bomb. Orchid 500's will be made and available if you want them. I was thinking about ordering just 150 limited edition orchid 500's and giving some to people who ordered full sets as a bonus. Because of the cost, I do not want to do a batch of less than 3000 chips.

Cash: I have been fighting with myself over whether to go with Sunfly for the cash or go with ABC/BRpro. Denominations will start at 5c and go up to $12 or $25, with the possibility of $25 and $100 (and possibly $500 if demand arises) on plaques if I go with ABC. I do not know if Sunfly carries plaques or not.

5c -- white or pink (my 5c chips are generally pink)
25c -- yellow
$1 -- cyan
$5 -- red / orchid (suggestion for orchids to replace reds)
$12 (for 12:00 midnight) -- medium or dark blue.
$25 -- green or slate Grey
$100 -- black
$500 -- fire orange / dark purple
$1000 -- (if 500 is purple, then orange. Color TBD if we use orange)

I would like to do the $500 in Fire Orange like the chips in Missouri, I imagine those would really pop.

Anyways, I haven't forgotten about all of you and I hope to hear some words about how I am going to do a second run within the next month or so.

Okay, some hot updates:

I am going to be working on a cash set. What I haven't decided yet is if I'm going to use BRPro or Sun-Fly again. I love Sunfly's hybrid design where a label can be added) but with the price increase and shipping delays, it may behoove of me to go with BRPro/ABC to get a lovely set of ceramics. This also will open the door to plaque designs and top out the total at $500 or $1000.

I will be doing a second run if I feel there is a demand. There will be a small number of orchid secondary 500 chips in the wild. I am ordering a small batch to beat the price increase at the end of the month and will be giving some out to the people who helped make this a reality (only one roll since these things literally are costing me 99c each with shipping and paypal fees), and I will be doing contests in the future for orchid 500 chips. Also, I'm keeping 50 for myself.

If the batch is well-received and there is a demand for more midnights, I will do a full second run. I'd like to get group buy (3000+) chips if I run it again. I know Wood-ster is backed up, and I'm not in a rush for a cash set, I want everyone to know that Midnight Casino will have cash and tournament chips going forth.

It's been recommended by Jeevans that we make the cash set a Cali cash set. I actually kinda like this idea.

Anyways, here's the latest:

Because Sun-Fly had a price increase effective March 31, 2021, I placed a minimum order in right before the deadline so that we can get the orders in and printed before the prices go up.

As a thank you to everyone who believed in me during the creation of this set, I will be making nine rolls of the Midnight Casino orchid secondary 500 chips. (225 chips total)

50 will stay with me

25 each will go to two people who helped get the first run off the ground

25 will go to the waitresses at the Tilted Kilt in Orange, California due to overwhelming demand

This will leave me with 4 rolls I can give away to people, and I will do so. I would like to do a heads-up tournament (similar to Face the Ace) for one roll and then I will have to find a way to give away the other 3. But these will be given to people who want them and who stuck with me and the Midnight Casino through it all.

As it stands, I know you guys have been waiting for the announcement. I am in fact going to do a Cali Cash set as @davislane has eloquently pointed out. I may re-use the orchid color (I really like it) with a different design for the cash $5 chip.

I have a guy interested in buying 3 of my rolls, I may give 10 away as part of a Face the Ace level tournament, and do the rest to my friends who want it. When Woody gets to it (no rush buddy, I've got nothing but time), I honestly would love Sun-Fly to make the Midnights a stock set once we get a cash set in, I don't know who I have to talk to in order to make that a thing. I can tell you that if you ask Sun-Fly for the Midnight designs they will make them.

Alright, due to overwhelming demand, I will only have 14 chips that I can give away. (I'm not worried. I can always order more if I need to, once this is done). This run was supposed to be a thank you to everyone for supporting me, and it turned out to be in demand.

Anyways, I will be keeping one roll for myself and giving one to the girls at the Kilt in Orange (I promised them), besides that I only rent one room. It's gonna be a while before I can get my poker night going.

I want to take care of both Ben and Mohammed. Ben made this sellable to the public and Mohammed's Bean Town was the inspiration for this set in the first place. Without them, this would have never happened.

I don't remember shipping any ships to Australia. I would have definitely remembered that.

Alright. The latest:

Wood-ster has informed me he is taking at the very least a hiatus from creating new designs. The guy is a magician with chips and I can tell you he has worked his tail off the last couple of years with the designs.

I still, however, would love to do a cash set in the same vein as the tournament set, I just will be leaving the services open for someone else to take.

Honestly, I can objectively say that Woody is a God of chip creation but I can see where he would need a break, and he needs to take care of himself first.

It will happen, this is just a setback.

Four quick updates for everyone.

1. Orchids will be arriving this Friday!
2. A new person has reached out to me to make a cash set and since he is trying to establish a name, he is going to do it pro Bono. I can't say no to that and will shoot him what information I have.
3. Ben being the awesome dude he is is going to talk to the Woodster in the next couple of months, and will turn on his charm game.
4. Sunfly does sell plaques for higher denominations, so I will be looking at using them.

I fully expect there WILL be a cash set for the Midnight Casino in 2021.

Id switch the inner pattern on the $1 and 5c.

Potentially make the inner ring pattern on the $12 or $25 diamonds , squares or triangles to differentiate. Id make the rectangles on the $100 smaller and closer together so you can have the $100 denom 4 times on the chip like other denoms and bj v7s

The line up looks great Steve! I would probably order a couple plaques but definitely no need for $500s or $1000s in our game.

I was curious though if we could get a $20 Gray Plaque? We have $20 plaques in our PCA set and they are always a hit! Really that is the highest denomwe need but I would likely still order some of each of the $25s and $100s anyways but man would live another set woth a $20 plaque

Ok. Traditional cali colours are red or green frac, blue $1, yellow $5, black $20 (or $12. make sense because midnight) purple $25, white $100

Let's do this:

I want to see the pink as a $5 chip (even though it doesn't fit perfectly with the Cali colors). We can make the 5c red or white and keep everything else as is for now.


I am going to keep the $20 grey plaques since most micros (5c/10c to 25c/50c) will use them for sure, and it will be practical that way.

It won't be a perfect Cali cash set but it will have the right personality. I like the orchid chips but NGL, the quarters, singles and 5's would pop if we did it that way and those are going to be our workhorses.

For me, the $25 looks washed out --way too much yellow-- and the 1, 5, and 12 need more contrast between the denom and the body of the chip.

The .05. .25, and 100 look fine.
