I'm going to run a group buy to essentially re-do a previous group buy for 43mm WSOP tribute chips. Basically, I'm doing this because I want a set, and can't find the breakdown that I want with existing chips, so I'm just going to re-do. Hopefully a few other people will be interested too, to keep costs down a bit. But we'll see.

@mipevi is helping me with this group buy, and we'll need some help from a designer, perhaps @Quicksilver-75 after he sells all the snowmobiles and motorcycles.

The chip design, as far as colors and mold go, will be similar but switched up a little bit, to be more true to the WSOP chips. Please see the Matsui mock-ups and color samples below for the colors we'll be using.

We would also like to give the inlay a bit of a refresh. I'm not coming up with anything for an idea for inlay art. I want something fairly simple, but different from the first GB. We will definitely be using foil in some way.

This thread is to hear who might be interested in a set of these, and I would love to hear some ideas for inlay art.

Here is a sample set from the previous group buy.

Let's hear your brilliant ideas to help this project come to life!

My idea for the inlay maybe is put the Suites on top of the word POKER and put World Series on the bottom. Technically it’s not the World Series of Poker which they wouldn’t do, but would be Poker World Series.

My bad -- the colors will be somewhat altered from the original GB, and I have revised the OP to reflect this. See the colors we will be using in the OP. We'll use a different mold from the original as well.

Thanks @mipevi for keeping me on the right path!

@liftapint any idea how will these stack compared to the emerald bays?

I think those South African montecasino chips i sent you years ago were Matsui. Any idea if they will feel like those? Those are the only other matsuis I've handled.

I could be interested

I am doing everything I can to make them stack and feel as different from the Emeral Bay chips as possible. I did not find the original run of these to be slick. I have high hopes.

Yeah the only other matsuis I've tried (which are all live casino chips) weren't slick at all, but it's been a few years. I haven't felt the original runs of these, so I have no comparison.

I highly recommend to use ABS colors. For the 25 I would choose Irish green, for the 100 choose as 2nd color #16 and for the 1k #15

And for the 5k #20 the would be

Sold my original set and miss the Matsui buttery goodness. Very interested

I used ABS colors for the Emerald Bay group buy, I didn't like how the chips felt, using that plastic. I'm gunshy to use it again. I know there are different design choices here (43mm instead of 39mm, and bevel edge instead of square). But I am afraid that the type of plastic and weight of plastic contributed to the aspects of the feel of the Emerald Bay chips that, I am afraid to use that plastic again.

That, and for this particular project, we're basically going for "re-create", rather than "create something NEW and awesome". And I don't think the ABS colors are necessary to "re-create".

I totally get what you're saying though...The ABS colors are SO much brighter!

I have a couple sample sets of the originals (and someone was trying to sell a small set recently) and they are relatively slippery, in my experience. Not as slippery as the Emerald Bays, which set the standard, but more slippery than Abbiattis.

I may be interested depending on final design. Slightly confused, though: beyond the color differences (which appear to be modest), and the edge spot pattern difference (4 spots vs 6), how will these be different than the originals? I don’t have my samples with me, but the originals had a slightly rounded or beveled edge, as I recall. Will these have that same basic structure?

Yep, same basic structure. Like I said, I would just buy the originals if I could find the breakdown that I want (enough chips)...so I'm basically just re-ordering the originals. As you said, the edge spot pattern will be slightly diffrent (4 spots vs 6), very small changes to the colors. The biggest difference will be the inlay. I want something a little different (but still simple).

Looking for ideas here. The point of this thread.

How different are you wanting the inlays? Totally different from wsop inlays, or a variation on them still?

Open to anything, really (except birds, sorry @mipevi, haha).

Something like this might look nice, using foil?
But really open to (almost) anything.

Or something closer to the wsop inlay. I really don't know.

I feel like some sort of wsop reference would be good if you are doing a wsop homage with the chips.

But you could certainly consider copying an inlay style that you love, like the above, and work some sort of wsop type wording into it. That could be cool. It would be your own take on a wsop inlay.

But we really need a name. So far, only one suggestion (Poker World Series).

I'd like to hear a few more, from the creative folks here!

As an aside...Matsui won't sell racks any longer, outside of an order for chips.
I'm planning to take this opportunity to order extra racks for group buy participants. I'll set the parameters later -- I'm not ordering 100 racks for a sample set order. :)
