It's really great to see all these huge limit sets, but let me throw a little heresy out there:

Your limit game workhorse chips don't really need to be anything fancy. They can, in fact, be anything at all -- or a mix of various chips.

Toward that end, I bought 2,000 Majestic yellow blanks (with the blue and green spots, because I love the colors).

Throw in one rack of $1s, and a rack of some larger denom (I use the $100 Matsui plaques), and you have a limit set that can handle anything -- 1/2, 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10, etc.

(Yeah, I do have 1200+ mint Ace's $3s, 'cause I love that orange. And 900 mint Ace's $2s, because they came from somewhere...nothing like ssanel's, though!)

I see no heresy in this. More wisdom than heresy, really. I use some generic Bud Jones fuchsia roulettes as high value chips for my limit set. Cheap and effective, particularly considering my alternative is to get 200-300 $500 chips for my Empress set. Even if going with a different casino, that's not going to be cheap.

As for blanks - I think blanks, NCV's, or 1's make the best base chips since they can literally be used to cover any limit stakes.

I have 1,839 Nile Club pink ceramics with a misprint that has the text on one side reversed. Acquired them for $100, but the advertised number was 1,920, so I e-mailed and asked where the rest of the chips were and they gave me a $20 rebate. Not anything super fancy, but you can't beat the price ... less than a nickel apiece for chips that normally cost between $.35-$.40 per chip.

I've typically used it to play $5/$10 with a half kill. My guess is that with my recent move, it's going to be hard to find people willing to play at those stakes, at least not until inflation slowly devalues the value of a dollar over the next 30 years, so if I do get a limit game together stakes I'd just use these as quarters and stakes would likely be $.75/$1.50 or $1/$2.

Well technically mine is Pink and Paulson. They're non-denoms, so strictly speaking I don't know if you'd call it a pink chip (snapper) set.

I'm a big fan of a non denom limit chip. Denoms are a lot less necessary in a limit game, and with non denom chips you can spread any stakes you want.

Or any denom. We once played 2/4 at my DC home game with all my racks of $100 chips -- PCA primary and secondary, Highway 9s, Aztar MO primary and secondary, Bahamias, Treasures, Chips Tukwila, Casino Internationals, etc.

All blacks, and I wore my All Blacks rugby shirt. I loved it.

(Bot sorting them into racks afterward was a bitch...)
