Large & Small Crown hotstamping (1 Viewer)

BCC charged me $75 for a custom die many, many years ago.
That seems high.
I just paid $168 for 3 different copper dies from owosso.com
Sounds more reasonable to me.

I recall there being a $50/denom die charge from some past group buy. Don't remember which one..... might have been the Paulson Grand Cardroom chips (long ago), or maybe the Aurora Star tourney hot-stamps (more recently).

@AK Chip I don't have dies yet... I have artwork. I was planning to try to "rework" the chip prior to sending back to Spragg to get them stamped. It is my impression that some amount of "scraping" is required of that chip in order to get it flat enough to get it to stamp. This was info from cgraham. He was going to do it originally for my set, but his non-chipping workload prevented that from happening. Seeing what you've done with the scrown gives me hope.

I was going to get dies trough Spragg. Do you have a source? I have heard of cheaper outlets than the dies Spragg uses.

I just have the company that Collin (Monkey dog) rcomended. It cost @Klobberer $60 ish per. I'm hoping the higher cost was due to the size of the base of the stamp. It was quite a bit larger than the other dies I have.

$5 to convert my art, $45 per die and $28 shipping and handling. It was the S&H that irked me. Regarding size, they made them larger than I spec'd. I don't think that factored into the price.

Thanks!

So much for hoping they might be cheaper, this is going to be expensive.

Did you submit them as three separate dies? Or did you have them grouped unit one file with cutting on the crop lines?

Unless they’ve changed, the pricing was always by the square inch with a minimum charge. For example - (pricing just used for example, not actual cause I can’t remember) minimum order of 8 square inches would result in you paying the same if you order one die that is 1”x1” or eight 1”x1” dies. I’ve had orders of 20 dies that cost under $100. Also, from my experience with the Kingsley, copper is the same performance as magnesium but it costs more. It’s pretty though.

I did these manually and they seem to be a nicer stamp.

One file and spec'd each die at 1.5" square. So 6.75 square inches total. Did you order from Owosso?

Yes. I’ve used them for years...also haven’t ordered any does for a year or two though. Maybe it changed. I’ll have to dig up some old orders and check.

I have to say these pics are zoomed in and it shows things the naked eye wouldn't pick up.

On both crown molds 8-10 had good stamps. Diasq it was 9-10

They look way better in person, the camera really picks up the scraping marks.
