"$1000 A RACK" Umm... you guys realize that Jim SELLS OUT on chips that cost MORE than $10 each off the break right? When Apache got the Primary $1ks, that morning they were $11.99 (Jim's price was $7.99) by that evening they were $14.99 and now $18 each... why would the price increase so rapidly if they weren't flying out the door. Anyone catch how long it took for Jim to sell out on the Indiana Grands?
I’m not complaining, just observing / discussing. And I’ll stand by my above discussion point - there’s a very small percentage of PCFers who are willing to spend $1k+ on racks. Yeah, they do sell quickly, but I feel like a huge chunk of them are selling to the same people, time after time.
I wish raffles were still a thing
Those were the worst.

That was its own separate problem - inflating the cost of sets simply by selling chances to win that were in total worth more than the market price in many cases, plus laws are different in every state and so there's risk to administering them.
Yeah I know it’s illegal but I wouldn’t say the raffle $ earned should equate the value of the set. But it’s a fun way to participate. Just wishful thinking.

Ahh set #41 AND COUNTING!

Pretty sure I will still be around (I did just turn 40... anything could happen) but for the most part not planning on going anywhere.

BUT! Personally I say let the whole chipping market crash and burn to the ground! I don't buy chips as an "investment" I buy them because I love them, and for prices I am willing to pay!

If that rack was worth $300 tomorrow I wouldn't care one bit! And yes this coming from someone with over $100k in poker chips at this point! Let it burn baby... then myself and many of the veterans throwing around the term "retirement" can get right back into the mix of chipping!

"Flipper Ben" ...
"Whale Ben" ...
"Late to supper Ben"... wait a minute now, that's too far! lol

Whatever you want to call us, there will still be people around willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money for little clay discs... just because we like them.

Hell I plan to be around for the next "balloon" and the crash that follows that one! I have thrown tons of money away on things that were far less pretty than my chippies! I consider myself a PRO on bad "investments"

House Payment is made, bills are paid, retirement is looking great and still got a few Benjis in my pocket for the meet up this weekend in PA!

Life is good Amigos!!

Let's try something new and have a thread where people complain about the cost of poker chips.... that would be pretty original! Lmao
That’s great for you congratulations! You have disposable income for these. The majority don’t. I’m glad you enjoy them.

I don’t really care if you pay $5000 for your second rack. I’ll continue to pick up scrap bike tires for 85$ a rack and enjoy my .25-.50 home games and pay my middle America house mortgage at same time . While I continue to laugh at you guys paying
these prices and Jim padding his pocket .

Have a good day enjoy your 41 sets. Will see in future if your on set 82 and 200k in chips maybe you will but I’d say you won’t be.

Love to see how many members are og blue wall members.

It’s still legal all you have to do is sell a $1 chip for x amount. The bonus is just what shows up in box in addition to that 25$ $1ticket chip!

Who cares?
I always laugh when I hear guys on sports talk radio, complaining about something, announce that they’ve been a season ticket holder for 20 years. Who cares. The guy (or god forbid pink-hat wearing girl) who just bought their first ticket paid just as much as you. So you’re both entitled to have exactly as much fun. Seniority doesn’t equal entitlement, in a football stadium or in a poker chip hobby.

I'm actually very happy that Jim is putting up auctions. He's the one who puts in the effort to source these chips, drives for days to pick them up and sort through the literal barrels into barrels, packs and ships them super fast. He's the one that deserves to be compensated for all that effort, not the flippers. AND he's still bringing more chips to the community!

He’s not doing this for the community that’s where you guys have your head in the sand ! It’s just the easiest place for him to unload 100k chips currently. He started this maybe as a side hustle in 2000s with a website that transition to this site. But don’t kid your self it’s a full time gig for him now.

Anyone can be a buyer you just have to have money and more than likely an inside track to gaming control members who vouch for you. Better hope no one ever sees these prices or they’ll start selling them on govdeals.com just like how cities do now instead of having in person auctions. Same goes for job bids was in person or mail in. Now a outfit in Texas could be installing your sewer line instead of the local company right down the road.

These prices arnt good for the hobby. Just like how more and more casinos are now going with bud jones / and ceramics. There tired of us stealing chips for .50cents $1 and $2. Heck some even buying $5. Limited edition chips have almost stopped completely as well.

Technically in football it does , osu ticket holder here and yearly I get to move up rows based on seniority. So that Analogy is wrong.

On the blue Og members Just be neat to see how many people still are active. For all you guys thinking your in this for ever and you’ll never sell your collections types.

I’m with you there. I scoured the blue wall when I first got involved and I saw pictures of sets that are rarely/never seen here. I often wonder where those sets went, and how many more are out there that I never even saw pictures of.

I was on the blue wall.

I've never considered once what my "resale" is for the chips I have or want.

I play with some sets and some sets don't get as much play.

I am thankful for the service Jim provides and am ok with him being the one getting the inflated prices if there are going to be inflated prices.

I do wish the community was smaller like it used to be.

And finally I may be disappointed I am priced out of many things but I support people being able to do whatever they want with their own stuff. I also support remembering who is a "flipper".

A lot of judgement going on, I just wanted to get my thoughts out there so I can be appropriately judged. ;)

Oh trust me, they care. TCR was a significant revenue source for them. I’m waiting patiently to get flamed here and via PM.
I mean for someone who hates flippers you seem to know a lot about them man. Who makes a significant source of income from flipping? I want to know them and learn from them. I've flipped chips before and if I didn't I'd have been a fool. I went big on the IG sale with the intent of selling a majority off the chips to pocket some money and get a new set. I ended up selling my chips to a new member who then became a friend and I was able to keep an IG set for myself. A set that had I not sold the chips at a markup I wouldn't have been able to afford. I was also able to afford a HS set which has been a goal of mine for a while. So I'm curious if thats also a violation of the PCF code of honor? If you aren't as wealthy as other members are you allowed to "flip" so you can affords a set you couldn't? That money goes to the community where it's going to be spent again or maybe that money goes to a member who needs some extra cash. I don't see how thats bad though. Realistically though this is an unsolvable problem. As long as Jim sells chips at wholesale prices smart people will buy as many as they can and sell them for more. You're a nice person if you sell at cost, but expecting others to be as nice as you and/or not take advantage of that kindness is foolish.

So many sets. How many have seen those huge presidents and crystal parks ? Winners circles ?outpost, cdi, Mexico , Bcc and trk epic customs . I know about 12 guys who have no idea this site exist and the customs and sets they have are crazy. The original home game custom Paulsons are epic.
They slowly add an auction occasionally on eBay. But you’ll never see them here.

How many members did blue wall have vs pcf ?

You'll do better thinking whenever Bergs says something to think of the Teacher in Peanuts.

"Wah wah wah wah wah" Bergs probably.

"smart people"

Yeah, for sure- the only thing standing between people who go big on sales with the intent to sell off the majority and pocket money vs people who like to have sets of poker chips to collect and play with is the mental fortitude to understand that "buy low/sell high is good".

All this time I thought I just loved poker chips, it turns out I'm just too stupid to realize I could've been pocketing money. Appreciate the insight, I'm going to try and do better.
