So, recently I wanted to order 500 chips poker set from TINA for myself, but delivery cost is outrageous. Chips will cost 140 euros and delivery will cost something around 118 euros (shipping to the Netherlands).

So I've been wondering, if there are any fellow european chipoholics, who want to get their hands on those card molds chips? Maybe we can organise a group buy or I can buy a bit more chips than I need, in order to sell them later?

And, of course, this is my first post. Hello, fellow PCF members!!!

Join one of the group buys that @justincarothers runs. They run every month and I’m sure he does international shipping for a fair rate.
Doesn't seem smart to join a group buy to the US and wait two months only to pay around the same shipping costs to get them shipped from the US to EU.

I think it's a good plan to do a European group buy.

This is this month’s one. He can do customs etc so best to flick him a message.
Yeah, shipping from US to Europe will cost around 90 euros + few additional month of waiting. I don't think it will work

Yeah, european TINA group buy would be awesome. Not sure if I am ready to organise it, but if there will be some fellow europeans, willing to participate - why not.

I was more getting at that since the OP is trying to do it via Tina alone, the shipping cost is probably much higher.

I have had packages bigger than that shipped from the USA to New Zealand for less than half the shipping cost the OP mentioned. I would assume shipping to Europe from the US is even cheaper still but that’s why I suggested getting in touch with Justin first to see.

After many years, I can only suggest to pass on the cheap chips and save up for clay.
Same overhead to ship 500 Tina's vs real clay...but the clay will keep it's value while the tina's will not.

I will PM this guy today. But I'm pretty sure shipping from US to Europe costs almost the same as shipping from China

The thing with European region is that I can't find good chips for reasonable prices. European vendors sell cheap chinese crap and charge 2 times more than it costs. Another problem is my budget. Can you recommend me a chip under 0.50 euros (shipping costs included?).

Asked myself the same questions. In a European buy I might be interested.

Depending on the time frame, i am also interrested in a EU GB. But i would have to save up some money in order to participate. (Vacation, meetup Cologne, Gear labels etc.)

I even don't have the artwork yet.

Save up so you can spend double...and snatch a used casino set from the next TCR sale.

Buy once, cry once.....clean them and add some bits & bobs after initial buy and you will be left with a lifetime set.
Or fall into the black hole (rinse repeat), like many of us did

Yeah i'm going exact this route right now (you can see the result at the Cologne Card Carnival in october ;) )

Maybe its a downgrade for another set, but i'm thrilled with the idea of getting a full custom 'kind of cheap' limit set with also full custom brpro plaques as value chips.

But i have to admit. The process of selecting and buying clays, murder them, design inlays, order them,... And so on... This journey is awesome! Even if my chips aren't ready yet... I'm enjoying this so friggin much.

Never would i ever prefere a ceramic set over my own set of Paulson chips.

I think its just nice to have a ceramic set to go with a different theme than my beloved RHC set.

I think as inexpensive that the Tina chips are, they actually do keep their value. As long as you get a good breakdown, they should sell very close to what you paid. Sometimes even more, from people that don’t want to wait for them to be manufactured.

I think there's a fair market for Tina chips here - even if you take the shipping hit yourself (as I did). All the alternatives available for fully custom, in the UK at least, cost more. I'd probably look to get a few of something if there was a group buy that I could jump on to - not for anything major but 25 of this and 25 of that type of thing.

I bought my chips as a utility not as an investment of any kind - hopefully I get good value out of them. As mentioned elsewhere I don't see myself as a "chipper" but just someone who wanted my own unique set of chips without breaking the bank. Tina chips work for that.

What is TCR sale?

Stay tuned, maybe we will be able to gather a group

I will let you know if something develops on a 'gathering a group' front.

Justin’s mentioned direct shipping for orders of 2000+ chips (I think) before. So if you could organize a mini/sub-GB for EU members, you could have the chips shipped directly from China to EU and still leverage Justin’s experience and existing relationship with Tina.

@Nymor @SliderD @DerFabo, just contacted Justin. He asked approximately .40$(shipping to 1 address in the Netherlands included) for a chip. We are clarifying the exact price tho. You can check his previous group buys to know which chips are available right now. I wanted to create our own european GB thread, but, apparently, I can't. Maybe someone from you guys can give it a shot.

Thanks. It will take a while for me to get a design done and save money for it. If you guys don't mind to wait a month or two, i would be more than happy to organize the EU GB. At least i think i would be happy to do that ;) :ROFLMAO:

I've been looking at the same. I need a T10k set for two tables, and might as well go for a FL set while I'm at it so I'm looking at 1500-2000 chips. Getting 1k/5k chips from a TCR sale is both futile and expensive so Tina fits perfect there.
Was thinking of organizing a EU GB but since Norway isn't part of the EU, it's kind of moot. I guess I could do a Norwegian GB. :D

Just some food for thought

I have worked with multiple vendors in China for chips, I have my own private ceramic vendor (no hybrids don´t spam my inbox please)

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE the need to have a relationship with the vendor

I have ordered things and gotten samples and then gotten completely different quality the next time I ordered, it took me years to find a manufacturer that I trust and can work with. If you have the option to go through justin to get Tina's chips it is most likely worth it. Little higher price but less risk.

I have no horse in this race I just wanted to point out that it is very easy to end up disappointed when ordering from someone that you have zero ties with.

If shipping from the Netherlands to Norway is a viable option for you - welcome aboard. Still not sure if I'm a suitable candidate for the reshipper, since I have literally 0 experience with international shipping. I guess it's not THAT hard, so.

Exactly. Justin's pricing seems pretty reasonable. I think cooperation with him is our best bet.

We can match the US$0.40/pc including shipping, if the order is for 20,000 pcs and shipped by sea to one address. That includes design work, and we would also be willing to include some semi-custom options, for those who would like to change some minor things such as currency symbol, denominations and colors.

We've been in the ceramic chip business since 2006. We do not order from Tina but we offer the same quality, and you are welcome to mix and match different designs to reach the 20,000 total.

Best regards, Matt

Im almost positive that in this situation, EU is the geographical location of Europe, and not that the abbreviation is for 'european union'?

Both in this case so I wasn't very clear mixing the two.
Importing to Norway will likely induce customs to the chips from norwegian customs. And then shipping from Norway to anywhere in Europe would likely induce customs again, this time from "the Union". Not to mention that shipping costs from Norway is fairly expensive.

Following...

In US now but will be in Europe within the year. I am trying to buy my sets (tournament, micro stakes, low to medium stakes, maybe limit) now, before heading across the pond. But rooting for this European group buy to work out as I imagine I will get the itch for another round of custom ceramics at some point.

I think it would be fun to mock up some designs specifically for Europe, with the € sign (and other currency symbols for non-Euro zone PCFers). In more common European colors and breakdowns (€20 instead of $25, am I right? - Admittedly, I don't really know what European casinos use). And referencing European cities/casinos/landmarks. Anyone have a custom set in mind? I am not a pro but can take a spin at a first draft for fun. Here are a couple sets I designed, with some help from @Colquhoun (who is a pro for hire that comes highly recommended).

Did he say if the $0.40 per chip was for no mold or card mold? What is the minimum order to ship to Netherlands? Is he able to discount for a larger bulk order?

I wanted to create our own european GB thread, but, apparently, I can't. Maybe someone from you guys can give it a shot.
@Razumist777 You probably don't have permissions yet as a newbie. I can create one if you want (although I am not sure I am the right guy to own the thread, but whatever). Just give me a thumbs up if you want me to.

I have odered chips from Tina directly before so i cant see the reason why cant we do a GB in EU. There will be VAT, import tax and reshipping. I odered under 150 eur so there was no import tax for me. Im curently working on my own desing, but that will be a long process to finish it. But im interested in the initiative.

Well, we're located in the E.U. and have decent shipping deals. How much would you guys be willing to pay per piece including shipping, say for 39mm No-Mold chips, if we handle everything (i.e. we import, repack and reship to each end customer)?

If we ship from (via) our storage in Sweden then you will not pay any additional import VAT (it will be included in the price already), so please consider this too. Do you think we can reach a 20,000 pcs total?

We can add further value by offering free design work (custom and semi-custom), as far as it's possible. And you would be able to mix and match your own designs, our stock designs, and custom/semi-custom versions of our stock designs, to reach the 20,000 pcs total.

Let me know and I will see what we can do.
