I know Bud Jones doesn’t get much love around here, personally I’m not a huge fan, but I know some people love them.

I picked up this set recently and wondering what the value you might be? As I said, I’m not a huge Bud Jones fan and think someone else might get a lot more enjoyment out of these than me. I have searched on here but can’t really find much.

They are obsolete chips from a local casino that is still in business here in Calgary. I did hear that when casinos in Alberta close down or change chips, the old chips should be destroyed. I don’t know if that increases the rarity which increases the value?
As far as I can see these are V7 but I can’t find resale any prices. I also believe the higher denomination chips should be worth more as they have 3 colours, not 2.
The $25 and $100 are not listed in chip guide.

Do any of you guys have any information or input on the value of these? I may look at putting them up for auction in the near future, but I would like a rough idea of the value.
Any input you have would be appreciated.

Breakdown is
200 x $1
200 x $5
75 x $25
25 x $100

The majority of the chips are in real nice shape, I did notice one $1 chip is cracked. I can send more pictures of that if anyone wants?

Thanks
Memphis

I should have put all that information in my original post, I’ll add it now.

Wow. Really like the fins. Wish you had more than 200.

Good looking set.

They could be, if you sent them pictures.

Of course, you'd probably expect to be paid for that...

Is this poor attempt at humour?

I will send photos of the chips to chip guide next time I get the chance to take pictures.... I will share whatever payment I get with you as it was your idea ;)

I would say between $450 and $650. Not much love for the BJ chips. As I am sure you saw, a set of similar size with 200 oversized chips and snazzy inlays are not selling at $950.

Bad news for sellers but great news for people into high end plastic chips.

Great looking set you got there with some unusual coloring on the 25s and 100s.
The inlays could be nicer but it's always nice to see wild chips find their way to the community.
I just wish there were more of them. Someone might want them but without the possibility to add chips, it'll stifle interest.

relabel those hundos to star city so you can finally have a chip

IMO .70 to .80 cents a piece.

No pretty colors/patterns.

I think you have the answer in your post.

Put them up for auction. You'll find out exactly what people are willing to pay.

I wish it was 80/20 instead of 75/25 $25/$100

But BJ cash set are better as an auction or you can price what you think is good and discount or reduce price if they don’t sell after awhile

You can submit unlisted chips to the Chip Guide. You'll get credit, but not compensation.

That is a very playable breakdown. It would be nice to have a frac, and not being able to add on is a bummer. For new chips, you might be able to fetch $1.25 each, but $1/chip is fair to both sides. If you want to move them quicker, 75¢/chip is a good expectation.

If these are being bought by a relabeler, that adds 30¢ per chip to the final cost and they may be looking to pay in the 50¢-60¢/chip range.

I like Bud Jones chips, but I'm not a fan of v7s. Just me tho. Plenty of love for the v7s out there.

My initial plan was to keep this set and use it for our low stakes cash games. I found some cheap 25c fracs that copy the V7 design. I could relabel at a later date if I wanted.
If I did put this set up for auction I would offer the fracs for an additional $50 if the buyer wanted them?

Thank you everyone for your input. I have a few things to think over. As of right now, I’m not sure if I want to sell them or just hold on to them.
Thanks

I found them on a Canadian website. I think I paid around $65 for 300. They are clearly nothing like the quality of the BJ. They have a kind of chalky feel to them rather than the rubbery BJ. But they don’t suction together like the BJ chips do.
I think the site might have been Mr C Poker chips?

I was close, lol, MRC poker.

This set, to me imo, is very nice. I'd be interested in hearing more about them.
