Long ago, Butler made the epic post and I was firm in my position that hotdog are not sandwiches

I was wrong

If there is to be a debate first, we must agree that the Chicago style hot dog is the king of all hotdogs (New York has pizza). That also requires that the Vienna beef Frank is the official hotdog of Chicago along with S. Rosens Mary Ann poppy seed buns as the official bread.

This image is taken from the back of one of those bread packages this debate is over

I'll go one deeper - The Chicago style dog, is the least sandwich-style hot dog ever. It cannot be eaten upside down, a characteristic of any sandwich. Furthermore, John Montague (4th Earl if Sandwich) famously invented the sandwich (whether accurate or not) to eat during an extended game of cards. The Chicago-style dog would make a mess out of any table, cards and chips.

You only fell for a gullible marketing ploy. :cautious:

George Costanza is the only authority I ever needed on this subject. Coming from a guy who enjoys eating cured meats (and watching TV) while making whoopie makes him my hero.

Skip to 2:50 … Jerry is skeptical about whether a hot dog is a sandwich, but George quickly closes the door on this fierce debate.

I can not in good conscience agree that the Chicago style hot dog is the King of dogs.

At the very least you would have to make your case as to why this is your opinion and should be all others.

Also I think if anyone can it would be you as you are well travelled

i havent had one, but i imagine the worse dog would be the seattle dog

Death Dog is the king! Chili, cheese and onions at 3am after closing the bar...side of Herr's BBQ chips optional.

Yeah. I was overjoyed to read the subject. But I can't accept using that bizarre Chicago recipe to support anything.
Eat your dogs how you want! I don't care if you use ketchup. Sometimes I like onions and relish, but usually I eat them plain.
(And they're definitely sandwiches.)
