My buddy lives near Vegas and I'd like him to harvest some fracs and some $1s for me the next time her drives in for a concert or work. I figure the 1s will be fairly easy to pick up if he sits in a poker room for a while but how would he get fracs?
Ideally, I'd like 150 of each but I don't want to force him to grind at anything.

Build a time machine. Just make sure it has the ability to go back in time at least 50 yrs. That way you'll have a decent selection to choose from.

I know you are thinking; smartass...etc, but your chances of finding harvestable fracs in Vegas are about the same as being able to build a time machine. They were barely available 30 yrs ago and even then you would have had to go to a pretty small "off the beaten path" Casino to find any. A much more practical strategy is to find some suitable alternative chip and either over-label or murder/remove and replace the inlay with a label/ sticker of your choice.

And this new trend of hotstamp RHC chips is the beginning of the end of the $1 chip.
There’s some hope like house mold GN Tahoe $1 as of now.

If $1 chips die, then chips will die like slot tokens. No more chips, boring future.

Slot tokens are dead except at CC and Cortez, also heard Casino 93 has some but they’ll get rid of them soon.

Don't worry too much, it'll be a while still before every poker game is 5/10 or bigger. It's pretty tough to have a 1/2 or even a 2/5 hold-em game without a $1 chip. I think we have at least a few years before inflation gets us there....
even when 1s die, chips will still be useful at higher denoms

You guys are sorta breaking my heart. Not that I need a low stakes game in Vegas but 1s are often beautiful chips and I'd hate to see them go.

They are, but it will be a long time before we lose 1/2 and 2/5. I could never set foot into a 5/10 room right now
