Hello everyone! I'm happy to be a new member of PCF finally. I've had a bit of an obsession with poker chips for a while now stemming from my love of poker of course. I live in PA and play on Pokerstars as a most likely losing reg lol. You aren't reading this to hear about my bad beats online though, so lets get to the chips!

Tell me you're a chipper noob without telling me you're a chipper noob: purchases a 500 chip poker set off of Amazon without obtaining samples first. In all fairness, I don't think that Bullet Playing Cards offers chip samples, but a mistake none the less. I purchased this set on Amazon about a month ago for $300. The first thing that caught my eye was the design and the colors of the chips. I liked the Casino Royale style pips and the darker unconventional hues. The Bullet label (sticker) is also a sophisticated design IMO. I had myself convinced that these chips were not metal slug ABS based on the smooth edges in photos provided. The clear give away should have been the 12g weight, but I just wasn't convinced. I decided that the design was intriguing enough to rationalize the purchase since I don't actually own a poker chip set. I figured I could live with the metal slugs if the chips felt good and had acceptable quality. After receiving the chips, the first thing I noticed was the cool black case. Typical poker chip case quality, but again, I appreciated the design. Right away I noticed the chips were HEAVY. It was evident as soon as I picked up a chip that most had flashing from the metal slugs as well. The colors still looked great and I really loved the sticker label as it was shiny and good quality. At the end of the day, I couldn't get over the weight and the feel of these chips. The flashing made shuffling uncomfortable and unenjoyable. Funny enough, they include a great quality ceramic dealer button that they should just use for the chips! I would definitely scoop these up again if they were a better material.

All that to say, I joined PCF to hopefully open up some chip buying options. I've ordered my samples of Majestics and Royal Cardroom from Apache and plan on picking up a set of china clays for a first set redo. The golden rule of getting samples is absolute!

If you've made it this far, thanks for reading! Happy to be apart of PCF finally.

Welcome to the forum! Mistakes happen, we have thousands of the casino royale chips similar to what you have above. Also now have paulsons and other such clay chips. Good thing is there's plenty of time to test out samples and get yourself a cool keeper set! Maybe even skip the china clay investment and go for a CPC set! (Kidding) hope you enjoy your time on the forum, try not to be absorbed into too much of the perpetual drama and other such negativity.
Myself and @Ben8257 are located in MD about 30 mins from the PA line.
We have a few friends up in PA as well, @Rbonus012, @BigChief, and @MegaTon44 to make a few. There are many others through out PA as well

Hello and welcome from S Jersey!

Welcome to the community! As @FordPickup92 mentioned... we also have a bunch of Casino Royales, most of ours are the older (hard to find now 08 version)

All 14 gram slugged plastic and I still love them!!

Even talked my cousin @Jdod94 into buying those exact same chips you have there for his home tourney set

I would call them a set above entry level for sure and still good chips for family poker night.

Now my issue is the price paid? Apachepokerchips.com is a vendor here and sells those same chips for $.26 each!! $300 for 500 chips seems very high to me.

As far as China Clay, I really think you are going to love those Royals, we only have a couple sample sets but compared to other China clay I think those 43mm (oversized) Royals are the best!

Like she said we are in Westmisnter MD and not too far from PA (depending where you are) the awesome part about joining the forum in a dense member region is that if we all get vaccinated and get back to normal life you can very easily find a chippers game and go and check out lots of chips in person.

If not too far from the line and don't mind baby stakes your are more than welcome to come and join our family home game sometime, we have lots of different chip manufacturers and stuff you can check out, Including the Casino Royales big brother Bond chips, the 05 Casino De Isthmus chips which are after market replicas from James Bond License To Kill!

Lots of Bond Finatics around if that is what drew you to the CR chips.

Anyways again welcome to the forum @thinklikevigo. This rabbit hole can be deep and expensive, but also some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. We are all here for the chips, but we stay for the people and friendships made!!

If there is ever anything you need help with feel free to reach out Via PM, it is the mail symbol at the top of the page.

Enjoy your chipping journey!
Fellow chipper Ben

Welcome to PCF, $300++ for 500 metal slug is expensive.

I think I got my 300+100 chip (my first set was metal slug too) at around $100

I can’t bear to throw it after I upgrade to CC now but had since pass the chip on to a new poker beginner

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I live in center city Philadelphia with roots down in DE, so I'm well acquainted with MD. Also have a best friend that lives in Pittsburgh that I try to visit a couple times a year. It's awesome to see such a strong representation of this region on PCF. I appreciate the home game invites and the chip hospitality too lol. Just waiting on vaccine and COVID to situation to improve.

@Ben8257 that is some collection! Very impressive, the flex worked haha. **CORRECTION** I only paid $200 for the set, and it is still readily available on Amazon along with the other Bullet Playing Card set, both in 300 and 500.

Here's another view of the chips from Amazon and you can see how smooth the edges look. I really just liked the interesting colors and the matte texture. I also liked that they were not the typical first set buy, since I had not seen much on the internet about them. Honestly, not a bad looking set of starter poker chips. Also, I should say, ordering from Amazon makes them even better since its free delivery (with Prime), quick, and easy to return.

I'm definitely a bond fan and think Daniel Craig is an incredible bond. Casino Royale is one of my favorite movies for sure. Thanks for the vote of confidence on the Royals- they are really great! I grabbed samples of the Milano's, Royals, Majestics, and Matsui's. I was really impressed with the feel of the Majestics and Royals, so that's what I'm leaning towards getting now. By all means though, point me in the right direction of a better chip group buy or something and I'll gladly peel off another couple hundred LOL.

If you exclusively want clay chips, I have a nice entry-level set of DIASQRs (diamonds and squares mold) on eBay. Not as nice as Paulsons, but much cheaper. If they don’t sell, I’ll offer them here with cheaper shipping (my shipping’s higher on eBay to facilitate next-day shipping). And, I have a few other sets in the wings...
