I totally agree. It's pointless to try to put someone one a range if they play 50% of the hands that are dealt to them lol
Well these players still have a range, it's just wide enough where you know there's a lot of weak stuff.

You can't bluff these sorts of players, but you can check and call them very widely.

...and they are less likely to bluff. When they actually raise after the next board card, they hit. When the board comes :as::th::6d: and they raise, they may have hit that Ace, they may have hit the 6. It's not a bluff or a semi-bluff when they think their pair of 6's are good.

Let's go with adaptive. I think this would go over much better with our buddies. It's much better to take their money in a fair and honest way rather than to exploit there weaknesses, tendencies, or tells. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the latter, but I can sleep better knowing I am not expoiting them.

But, even though I use the term "adaptive", they really are the same thing. And that's okay. It's a competitive game and that's what makes it fun. You're totally within the rules, and your opponents can adapt too. Imagine if there were rules against adapting. Everyone would get their hole cards and every hand would check down through showdown. That's just bingo.

Some people also say that's kind of limit poker (can't price anyone out, always gets to showdown), but I've never played it.

In my home game (Cash game; dealer’s choice between NLHE, PLO, PLO Hi Lo), exploitation is 65% of my strategy versus 35% for sound poker. There is about 15 guys who are regulars and I know their tendencies. Typical amateur styles with rare 3 betting, over calling, and under bluffing.

You can comfortably fold strong hands to aggression without the risk of someone identifying that and then adding bluffs to their range since you’re technically over folding based on theory. That’s all exploitative.

Yeah I've found the two player types at my games are beginners who just call a lot or the maniac who bluffs all the time.
