To be allowed to play at my micro stakes table you must bring a $5 lotto scratch off. All the lotto tickets end up going to the person who shows the biggest hand and lost. Kind of our bad beat jackpot.

We have the 72o bounty (4 BB per person to the wonder) running along with hourly bomb pots (also 4 BB). Currently the bomb pots are just single board NLHE, but bomb pots are relatively new to the group, and I think we’ll evolve over time to the eventual double board, and maybe even PLO double board.

Right now, about a quarter of our players like to regularly straddle. If more people get comfortable doing that, I’ll Introduce them to having a rock on the table.

Players may veto the string bet if they feel the southern drawl was not exaggerated enough (Think Foghorn Leghorn). Majority rules.

It's perfect, because once people hear the accent, they know a raise is coming so there's really never any confusion about a call/raise.

$2 bomb pots every 30 mins
Tekashi 6ix9ine game - win with 6-9 and get $2 from everyone (better that 7-2, can actually make a hand... nice!)
$1 rabbit hunt fee (added to next pot)
Misdeal the cards you pay the blinds for that hand ($1 penalty)

We also do 'Max Pain May' and 'Slow Roll September' (slow rolls, trash talk encouraged, must show 1 card if you win)

We’ve been playing a lot of PLO lately ( 8 handed ) some of the things we’ve been doing that are fun.

• Hourly Big O bomb pot. When the timer goes off, the small blind rolls 3 dice. The sum of the dice is what each player antes in.
• At the start of the night, each player contributes $25 into a bad beat ( so $200 total ). Our qualifier is AAA1010 has to get cracked. If no one gets the bad beat by the end of the night we play a final Big O hand face up for the $200.

Ok, this isn't anything exciting like bombpots or "mango-in-the-head-bonuses", but in my game you show your cards if you're all in, just like in a tournament. That's usually not required in a cash game but I enforce it. We're here for the entertainment so why not let the whole table see the excitement?

Anyone have good side action for tournaments? Trying to please multiple people for different buy ins $

$100 tourney for example then in the past I’ve done “last the longest” $XX. It’s an optional side bet and whoever does it, typically half the field usually does, wins if they last longest in the tourney of that group:

I raked $100 off a tournament I ran and randomly selected a player. The $100 was a bounty. Everyone knew someone had a bounty on their head, but no one knew who it was.

I know (TD) and I am not playing. People find out when it is time to pay it out. I pause the clock on the tournament, announce that the bounty has been hit, and make the TV screens show some WANTED poster about wanting that person dead, like this ....

I have gotten some lighthearted ribbing from some of the older players about my proclivity to check-raise, like how it’s bad etiquette or not friendly, and one player was even surprised that check-raising was allowed in our game! (We play 7-card stud where 6s and 9s are wild, but check-raising is where we draw the line?!)

My question is, has anyone played in a game where there was no check-raising allowed? Or do I just play with a bunch of weirdos??

everyone picks one card when they are seated.... ,i pick jack of spades ... if a red jack hits on the river i get $1 from each player , if a jack of clubs hits on the river $2.... and if my actual jack of spades hits the river its $5 from each player. its pretty fun. we have a big white board to keep track of everyones card. if you want to change ur card mid game it will cost you $. changing doesn't happen much.

It’s always funny to me when I see a poker room’s posted rules that have to specifically spell out that check raising is allowed, or an older book that’ll say something like “check raising is a powerful play, if you can find a game that lets you do it!”

I’m pretty sure both of these examples were written before I was born.

I picked this up from a game I go to semi-regularly where if preflop it folds all the way to the SB, and both blinds call/check, we give them the option to take back their blinds and immediate start the next hand if they both agree to.

It's a round of PLO where everyone has to put in $5 and is dealt a hand. The flop is dealt immediately at which point each player must make a decision on whether they want to play their hand or not. If they don't, they fold. If they want to continue, they must bet the pre-flop pot amount ($5 x number of players).

After everyone has made their decision (fold or pot bet) the turn and river are immediately dealt with no further action. Best hand takes down the entire pot.

this sounds like a mashup of omaha and guts, except you're not all making the decision at the same time. so if nobody else plays on the flop, the dealer just wins the whole pot?

sounds like it would be more fun (read: gambooool) if everyone decided at once!

A birthday card is one free exchange of a single card, pre flop, once action is on you.

So PlayerX’s birthday month is this month, if playerX is dealt a 7/2o, and wants a birthday card, playerX can discard one of them, and we wish them a happy fucking birthday, and sling player a replacement.

(Discards a 2…. Gets another 2, happy birthday )

I’ve seen a stud game like this where at the beginning of the session you “buy” cards, like you buy the nines. Then if someone gets a face up 9 they have to either pay you to use it, so it’s live, or it’s a dead card in their hand. They have to pay immediately or it’s dead the whole hand. So you gain some info but it’s also possible to pay for the card as a bluff.

We have regular cash games and most buy in for $200-300. We don’t do a small blind/big blind. We do $1-$5 on the dealer button (dealer calls it) and they are last position. At first I wasn’t sure about this but it’s really only way I want to play now and not have to deal with small/big blinds Some games around do $5 min and up on the button.

I instituted a progressive jackpot for a royal flush several months ago. Before each session, all participants pay $2 towards the jackpot, and eventually somebody is going to win a nice jackpot. The royal flush MUST be made in either Texas Holdem or Omaha. While participation is voluntary (but necessary to win), I have yet to have a player not participate. There is a few hundred bucks in the jar now. In the few years I have been hosting, there has been one Royal Flush at the table in Holdem, and that was well before I created the progressive jackpot.

We keep the money in a clear M&M container for all to see and covet. That is her on the table.

1. If you spill your drink onto table you post 2.5 BB to the next pot
2. Despite being cash game in case of all in all participating players need to show their hands... This one is purely for entertainment
3. In my home longsleeve is a must. No t-shirts or tank tops allowed.... Well except women.

Hey I like this - do you need a live hand for it to be applicable? Or it’s yours for the session - as in even if you’ve folded and your card gets rivered, you still get the bounties?

i just saw this now, you do not need a live hand your win if it hits and you pay out if others hit and you have folded. its pretty fun times
