I regularly post in the Home Games so I figured I create my own thread of our games...

Our Name - Suits Matter Poker Club
I am one of four that regularly host (@Eazy is one of them) our games so we needed something general enough, but unique at the same time. We have players that live 30mi away north and south of us along I-95 so a name based on a location was a no-no. What sticks out for us is whenever we call any Hi/Lo games, we call "Suits Matter" 95% of the time. Not sure if this is a common thing outside of our game, but whoever has the most "suits" in their best low, wins the low. It is a way of eliminating quartered pots for the low. Please see two examples below:

Example 1 (different # of suits)
Two players have the same wheel :ac: :2c: vs :ah::2d:, :3d::4c::5h: on the board: :ac::2c::3d::4c::5h: beats :ah::2d::3d::4c::5h: since it would be 3 suits :4c::2c::ac: vs 2 suits :3d::2d:.

Example 2 (same # of suits)
Two players have the same wheel :as::2d: vs :ad::2s:, :3s::4s::5d: on the board: :as::2d::3s::4s::5d: beats :ad::2s::3s::4s::5d:. Although they have the same number of suits (3 spades), :4s::3s::as: is lower than :4s::3s::2s:.

Personally, I am not a fan of "suits matter" being called but I am the minority in the group. I feel it takes away value from the "high hands" since players would fold a wheel knowing they are bad in the "suits" department. I lost that battle a long time ago. I will admit it's only a good thing when we play 6-boarded games. Yes, you read that right, 6 boards using 14 community cards, AKA Tip Toe. I hope to show that game in the near future in this thread.

Stakes?
$1/$2 (NL) Dealer's Choice

Where?
Stafford, VA

When?
Usually Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. We are averaging about two games a week.

Here are some pictures I've taken of our games (including some made up games courtesy of our group: Tip Toe and Spider Web):

The "suits matter" thing has really got me hung up though. Losing with the nuts....pretty gross.
It’s been bouncing around in my head like an angry ping pong ball, since I read it an hour and a half ago. I just need to scream BUT SUITS DON’T MATTER!!!
There, now I feel a little better.
Why do you guys think your players support this? I guess I can appreciate it, if it’s just an extra twist to create another layer of strategy. I can even live with it, if it’s just an excuse to not have put in the work of physically quartering a pot. But if the guys actually think that suits should matter - uh oh, I might have to scream again.

A all or nothing mentality. Having suited low cards in your hand is treated as a premium this way, and is bet as such. I don't think the issue with the players is physically having to "quarter" the pot, it's more so bringing in less money. For example, yesterday 3 players had a wheel in a "Tip Toe" hand. Instead of it getting split 3 ways, just one person won the low.

Again, I am not a big fan of this twist to the game, especially on any games other than "Tip Toe". But I am the minority here and had to adapt.
