High Desert Cardroom (1 Viewer)

Because of the font type, the desert is not easy to read. At first glance, I read « Doson ».
I agree. It's really just a stand in for now. I ran a scan of a Bourbon Street inlay through whatfontis.com and came up with this one: K22 Didoni Swash. I might swap it out later, but more likely I'll leave it as a placeholder until I contract an artist.

Great feedback, though! Keep it coming.

$100s are in! Man, these look so good in person. I hate that the charcoal looks blue in the photos -- it doesn't actually look like that.

EDIT: Excuse the stand-in $25s in the first image. They're GC $2s. Just the only dark green chips I own.

Empress Joliet $25s have arrived! Thanks, @Chile85!

This sort of wraps the first stage of the project for me. I still might grab another rack, but I'm not sure. I haven't had the chips in play at all, so I figured I'd wait to see if there were any shortcomings -- not enough fracs (probable), not enough bank (unlikely), etc. Next step is to replenish some funds and get labels designed and printed up.

Here are some pictures. Keep in mind these are all pre-clean and pre-oil. Also, I'm having trouble editing the first posts, so the idea of consolidating all pr0n into one post isn't going to work. Oh well!

Still looking for suggestions on the above, if anybody has any leads.

So I'm still looking for possible replacements for my $25s. It hurts, but it's true. So I picked up some Chips Bremerton $25s from @Ringer3! Jury's still out on these, so I thought I'd see what you all think.

Initial impression: I like the new chips more than I expected. I like the colors and the chips fit the theme well. I still prefer the Empress chips, but not having to mill is a HUGE upside. The new ones would be easy relabels.

One unexpected issue is a possible dirty stack problem with the GC $5s. Mixing a $25 into a stack of $5s isn't such a big deal, but the reverse looks like I could easily miss it.

Finally got these in play last night! Wasn’t my game, so I didn’t have much say in how the chips were used. The host wanted to play the quarters as .50s and the $25s as quarters. Was sort of weird. I agree that it’s a pain to not have enough fracs, but some people ended up with a barrel each or more of .25s and .50s.

Regardless, the chips looked great! Only got a couple pictures and they’re all pretty gross. But oh well!

Huh. Guess this stalled out a bit. Life, you know?

Update: Milling just isn't an option, guys. Who has the time? And to have it done professionally really bumps the cost up. So I'm back to looking for inlaid yellow solids. I've got my eye on some of the ones from the chip room sale. If I can snag 120 of those, I'll get rid of my THCs and pick up some capital in the process. I've also decided to keep the Bremerton $25s instead of the Joliets, so if those sell I should be ready to buy some labels. Might finally get this thing done with.
