Help with poker chips (1 Viewer)

I will have to second @TheWhat's suggestion. Check out Apache poker chips. He also has 3 varieties of the card mold ceramics. Get sample sets of those, and the Majestics, and maybe even the Royals.
I have ~700 Majestic's and like them a lot. The smell is similar to that burnt electronics smell, but I only notice it when holding them up to my nose.

Welcome. I was in your same position just a few weeks ago. I went with the Majestics from Apache Poker chips. Shipping was fast and 49¢ a chip seemed like the best deal.
As you can see, I went all out with the samples. Loved a few of them and it was close between the Pharaohs and Majestics.
I love the Taj Mahals too and will probably do a group buy with those because I couldn't find a $5,000 chip anywhere except the group buys. The other ceramic I am going to get will be the Stardust.
Out of the cheaper chips, I a huge fan of the Casino Royales. I bought a barrel of the $5 chips and I'm going to use those as bounty chips.

Are you happy with the majestic buy? and have you oiled them?
I have not oiled them. I need to read a little more about it. Really happy so far. Hopefully can get them in a game in the next few weeks.
Admittedly my sense of smell is pretty bad but I don't smell anything, even bringing it up directly to nostril.
I bought samples from all over the classifieds over the last few months. If I were to do it on your budget and timeline today, I would just buy one sample set of each material straight from Apache. Pick your favorite design.
- Cards mold ceramic (Empire, Penthouse, Taj Mahal) (~$7)
- China clay (Bank, Majestic, Pharoah's, Dunes, Royal) (~$7)
- Slugged plastic (Monte Carlo, Casino Royale) (~$4)
Once you're done with them, sell them for ~60-70% of the price you paid and then buy the set you want.
I don’t know how important oiling is for china clays, but it definitely made the colors pop, and seemed to make them shuffle like a dream.
