Great Poker Chip Case (1 Viewer)

I also bought this photography case for $29 (Amazon) few months ago but it's not rugged as Pelicans. It does the job for 1000 chip and comes with customizable foam. My concern is that the side where the handle is attached slightly bows when the case is full. They could have used a thicker material where the handle is attached . It comes with a shoulder straps as well. For $29 bucks, I cant complain... but if I have more budget, I would go with Pelican or Viper pictured above (more appealing to my eyes)View attachment 195265View attachment 195276.

The Member's Mark case is frequently on sale for $35 at Sam's Club. Cheaper than a true Pelican, bullet-proof carrying ability for chips.

I have the 16" MM case which works great but it would be nice to have something slimmer, softer, with a shoulder strap.

However, I'm probably underestimating how heavy that'll be on the shoulder . . .

Nice looking case. How heavy is it fully loaded? I'd be a little concerned with carrying that much weight on my shoulder (I have had back issues and want to prevent a repeat).

Thanks,
Grant

Case is about 1kg. Like Poker Zombie said, it'll be pretty heavy fully loaded.

Just got a CPC sample set. Tried to fit 25 chips into the barrel and damn! It’ll only fit 24!!!

They tried to deliver my case yesterday but there was no one there to sign. I am hoping my wife will be around today when they come through.

Bummer about the CPC's

Picked up my case from the post office before they closed today.

Overall impression is that I am very pleased. This will be my go to travel case. I won't be toting around a birdcage or cheap aluminum case anymore. I feel that this case adds a level of protection that the other cases just can't match while on the go.

A few things to note before purchasing this case. Mint Paulson's are a bit tight. See the photos below. You can see that the chips at the end of the barrels sit a bit high. I don't have that many mint chips so I can't comment on how well a full set would fit. I prefer a little wear. The horseshoe 500s fit perfectly. The more worn casino used chips have some play but that is to be expected. Mint chips can be forced to sit level but I'm not sure if that is ideal. The slots are not hard like racks. Maybe they will wear in bit after some use but only time will tell.

I can confirm new CPCs fit 24 per barrel. While a bit of a bummer I would still prefer to tote my chips around in this case over the alternatives that I have. I did manage to get 25 of my slightly used Palmas chips to fit flat but as stated above I don't think it is ideal to stuff them in like that. I think you may run into fitment issues with getting the top tray to fit if you are forcing chips in. That's just me speculating though as I don't plan to try it.

The only other thing that slightly bothers me is the tray handles. They seem like they could be a bit more heavy duty maybe? The full tray of chips isn't that heavy but they just seem a bit thinner than the rest of the build. They also seem to get in the way when you go to zip the case.

Another thing to note is that you can hear the chips move around in the case when it's moved or you are on the go. I am assuming that I am hearing my casino used chips more than anything. Or possibly my CPC that are 24 to the barrel. I believe this is where your traditional aluminum case has the advantage as gravity keeps you chips stationary if you carry them by the handle. Most of my chips are used and the nicer Paulsons fit tight so this isn't much of a concern for me.

So again, overall first impressions leave me pleased with my purchase. Maybe after some more use I can further comment with a long-term review.

Great review Sprouty!

It is a shame about fitting the right amount of chips in each barrel, which messes with my OCD, but I keep telling myself "it's only for transport, it's only for transport".

I don't recommend having chips stick out. The pressure once the case is closed would worry me.

I'd worry about the tray handles if I had to lift out a full tray. Luckily the removable tray holds 400 chips.

Yeah I keep going back and forth about this. For certain, CPCs are 24 a barrel, but the mint Paulsons may or may not be okay. I just don't have a big enough sample to know for sure. The mint Paulsons I have are on the roulette mold and I think they may be okay but it's a close call and something that may come down to preference.

Yeah I agree here. Weight isn't really an issue. I was just more or less noting that it was a thinner material and sometimes seemed to get in the way.

i like the look of this.

Do you have any calipers to get the exact size of chip slot?

Sounds like 25 TRKs would fit nicely !

The Viper case is nice! Looking into getting one of these.

Here's hoping they have a US distributor - if not 12 - 14 days for shipping.

Just an update to my initial review. I still very much like the case and used it to transport chips for Detroit Dad's meet up. I have been using it for my Jack's set where I have been loading up 25 per barrel. Some of the fitting is a little tight but my Jacks are to be used so I'm not too worried. It seems as my mint Paulson's seem to be doing fine at 25 a barrel. Perhaps the barrel slots are stretching or giving just a bit to accommodate them. Either way ymmv.

I’m hoping they come out with a smaller sized one, around 600 chips.

I think they just came out with a 500 count version.

(600 would have been better)

I haven't used it much for anything other than storage but I think it will hold up nicely. I trust it more than a cheap aluminum case.

I'm guessing there is no way to accommodate 43mm chips anywhere within this case? Too bad, seems like it would be perfect for Jack chips...

Not sure if you all can understand, but the following case is being sold on Taobao and claim to be able to put 43mm chip. They have both 500 pcs and 1000 pcs version.

I bought the 500 pcs version and it just arrived. I can say that it does hold 43mm chips.

I just have to say that the case in the OP makes me wish my name was Jack. I’ve never wished for a different name before, but SOMEBODY named Jack PLEASE put a set of J.A.C.K. chips in this “Jacks Poker” case!

To anyone who uses the 1,000 chip Viper case to run 2 tables... are you able to fit 4 decks of cards in it somehow?
