Here are a couple pictures from this year. GPI had a pathetic setup. Just one black jack table and a few chips sitting there. No special commemorative show chip like they had in years past. They only had three reps working. Yes I did ask about their willingness to take a $500,000 order and they said no.
The other picture is Abbiati. Much nicer setup with many reps in action.

Here is the GPI stand from last year or the year before. Notice how much larger it is and all the people there. It really looks like they are cutting back on everything. They use to have one of the best setups there. I know some people that actually built a 500 chip set by just sitting at the tables they had and playing all day.

There bottom line isn’t what it use to be that’s for sure. Lots of plastic and ceramics making way into casinos now. Use to be all clay and vary few ceramic casinos.

With such a small Set-up. GPI will be better off not showing up at all
I think in the wake of the pandemic and not attending trade events and conventions for a year or two, this is likely true for a lot of industries. Companies are rethinking the marketing spend for these kinds of events and their ROI, and especially for huge, well-established companies that don't really need to put all the time and effort in for the exposure. I don't fault them at all for scaling back.

The lower Paulson's market share gets, I would guess the more likely we eventually see the return of home sets in some way. Although the additional revenue is likely pretty insignificant.. One can hope though.

“Yes I did ask about their willingness to take a $500,000 order and they said no.”

Must be nice to be able to turn down cash money.
I wonder if they would listen to this pitch:

Hey GPI, you still have the molds for all of the older home game chips: Viva Las Vegas, Fabulous Las Vegas, CDI, etc. Would you consider bringing these chips back into production if we could guarantee pre-sales?

This would mitigate their concerns about security since the home game chips already exist. It would also be easier for them to bring these back since they already have the molds.

I agree, but we sadly need lots more casinos going plastic or ceramic till the open that option up. What we need is someone like Jim with relationships with say harrahs or jacks or horseshoe to order a “side set ncv gift shop set custom mold that amounts to 200-300k worth of chips. Casino makes some cash Jim makes some with a slight markup from factory”

That’s the only way we get gpi to sell to us other than nagb which someone will bust that wall down and order a shiz ton of them and sell them for a ton of cash to anyone.

Obviously they don’t need the business but I have wondered the same thing. They have to be thousands and thousands of those fantasy ships floating out there. Certainly no casino is going to use those patterns

Just as an idle exercise I mocked up all of the bog standard most common Paulson spot pattern chips from late 90s/early 00s, things that I am confident Paulson at the time pumped out in some kind of volume (CDI, CDM, FLV, Dogs, Generals, etc.). I didn't include things I wasn't sure were Paulson/GPI direct releases (NPS, Authentic, WTH&C, Private Card Room, Noir, etc.) that others may have some ownership of. The colors may be slightly off but I'm sure most folks here will recognize these. It's quite a bit of choice and again I'm sure no licensed casino would touch these specific chips colors/patterns given how many of them are floating around. Can you imagine have access to these?

I'm pretty sure those were direct Paulson releases. And they are all awesome.

TH&C are the chips that first got me hooked. Just wished I had pulled the trigger back when they were still being offered new. But at $1-$1.25/chip, they were expensive. LOL - if I had only knew.

Guessed at many of these colors, but it's close

Wow, that looks like it was a lot of work!

Maybe it is a good thing that Paulson has changed hands or ends up being sold off. It may get some fresh management looking at the value of potentially reproducing the home game market.

I wonder how many pre-sales of certain home game chip lines PCF could get? Could you imagine this pitch to an executive:

“Sir, there is a large group of chip buyers and secondary market sellers that are willing to do pre-sales of $500,000. This could pay for the entire set up and materials we would need to do a larger push to enter the home market space again”

I want to imagine the conversation between Paulson and our elected PCF rep showing up with RHC/THC group buy orders in the six-digit range. Would be a historic moment.

Well GPI did offer semi-custom promo chips not too long ago. Not exactly the THC/RHC chips we want but ...

I think if they came up with a catalog of chip designs ( see above ) and allowed people to do custom inlays, they would sell a bunch and not cause problems with casino security. But I'm only looking at this from the consumer side who wants it to happen. Gotta assume there are plenty of marketing / financial / security / ... reasons the have not, and probably will not, again sell to the home market.

I’d say it’s only matter of time till they sell the clay Paulson side of things.

There market is Asia and they know it .

Also with rfid technology there’s absolutely no way of counterfeiting anything over $1 chips… I believe this was solely on ngc and the same way they kaboshed LE chips .

We just need to keep hitting Vegas and buying all the racks from cage lol

I know this is likely a lost cause for now.

I guess I was wondering exactly what was the $500,000 potential order that Apache offered. If it was for a custom group type buy, certainly they are going to snub their noses. It seems to me, presenting an offer to re-release chips they have already made would have a higher probability of success versus a new custom buy.

But they both would likely have the same answer which is : "NO"
