Ok, so I don't know if this makes me more or less of a geek, but I have no fucking idea what Settlers is. Is that like some Dungeons and Dragons shit?

Settlers used to be a geek game, but it has made the jump to mainstream - you can even buy it from Sears now. You don't get nerd cred for Settlers anymore unless you own a copy autographed by designer Klaus Teuber (which we have) or play on a 8' x 8' board (which we have).
It's not a nerd game at all! Takes a while for people to learn how to play but once they have it, its addictive. Fun winter activity. Wish the game could use my chips vs cards though haha.
Other one I would recommend is Ticket to Ride. Similar concept, but much faster/quicker to learn/more casual. For me, Settlers FTW.
I call Ticket to Ride "Shit Catan"
HAHA. Yeah but if you dont have 4 hours for Catan, Ticket To Ride fills the gap.
Not sure what you mean. I've never had a Catan game last more than like an hour and a half.
I guess you have smart friends and dont drink 6 bottles of wine....

Seriously, Catan maybe goes two hours for a 3 or 4 person base game, but that's a stretch.
