Only a few days remaining

Reminder of the entry rules.

Entry

In order to enter, you must meet the following criteria:

A member of PCF since 12/31/2024
Have 250+ posts and/or be a PCF supporting member

I am currently limiting this to 90 entrants but may also increase this depending on interest.

Entry will close on 5/26/2025 at Midnight Eastern Time.

Currently sitting on 80 valid entries.

psst @TX_Golf_N_Poker you forgot to come back.

Apparently the 25K fantasy draft is tomorrow instead of today due to Memorial Day. Any player not tracked in the pool tomorrow will be replaced with a player of "equal" value. I am only really worried about one player, so I don't think it is going to be an issue.

The WSOP kicks off tomorrow but the Casino Employees event #2 doesn't count towards the POY and the other event is just a flight A of a 1K event. The WSOP POY standings likely won't see any effect until Thursday at the earliest.

Once everything is finalized I will post all of the picks and some stats.

Thanks for the reminder! I am in!

Entered,

Gotta say, there were some where I really had a hard time picking between 2 or 3 players. And there was 1 where I really didn't recognize any of the names at all.

Thanks for the fun contest.

It may take me a few days to put together the spreadsheet (I fucked around this weekend and found out) so bare with me.

However I wanted to post the raw data so everyone can be reminded of their picks. We ended up with 86 eligible entries.

2025 PCF Fantasy WSOP Picks

Some fun stats.

Daniel Negreanu was the most picked person with 59.3% of people taking him in Tier 2.
Only 2 people out of 86 took Calvin Anderson in Tier 4. If he makes a run that can mean huge things for JudgeandJury and Duffman in the contest.
Jason Mercier, Ben Lamb, and Mario Ho were the most picked players in tiers 8-10. I assume when a lot of you got that far you just started picking the names you recognized from 10 years ago.
58% of people think Negreanu will win a bracelet.
In an interesting trend, the majority think Americans will win less than projected bracelets and Europeans will win more at nearly 60% each.
Cratty thinks the Main Event will see three total players. Let's see if he is right!

@Cratty makes safe bets, I like that. Single table main event.

an FYI for transparency before the 5K NLHE event kicks off the real WSOP tournaments today.

The 25K (who I will be relying on for stats) had their draft last night.

92 of the 100 players in our competition were selected in the draft and 3 of the 100 players are being tracked leaving 5 players that are not currently being tracked. If these 5 players are not added to the tracker this week, I will replace them with a backup.

This was outlined in the original post but I didn't expect 5 people, especially not a Tier 6 and 7 to be selected. The only person I was worried about was Tamayo who was not drafted but is a bonus pick being tracked.

https://www.25kfantasy.com/players/poy

The players are:

Tier 6

Koray Aldemir (will be replaced by James Obst)

Tier 7

Michael Rocco (will be replaced by Arthur Morris)

Tier 10

Daniel Weinman (will be replaced by Brad Owen)
Wing Po Liu (will be replaced by Biao Ding)
Espen Jorstad (will be replaced by Kevin Gerhart)

Koray and Michael Rocco baffle me. Koray has been a staple at the WSOP since his 2021 ME win and Rocco is coming off a 2M year. I am not sure if they announced they are not playing this year or not.

Tracking is up for those that want to follow along.

My plan is to update as much as reasonably possible and then do a big weekly update on Sunday afternoon.

(I made the spreadsheet in excel and then uploaded to Google sheets which is always primed to have something go wrong. If something looks broken let me know.)

As mentioned above, the 5 non-tracked players have been subbed out with their replacements.

Chip Counts Tab is for overall scores. Your score will be your "chip count" throughout the event and the top 9 will win prizes.
Score Tracker shows your overall scores and Bonus is the tracker for the bonus questions.
Players tab shows the results for the WSOP player pool available.

My three favorite teams (in no particular order):

@Tonysquander

Jeremy Ausmus
Daniel Negreanu
Nick Schulman
Ben Yu
Maxx Coleman
Jared Bleznick
Adam Hendrix
Robert Mizrachi
Jeff Madsen
Sean Winter

This is a safety team with boom potential. Bleznick is total boom or bust, and Madsen is pure safeness with no boom or bust, but the rest of the team is purely solid. This team can easily win on a good year and should never finish below the top 3rd in a reasonable year. Ben Yu has the potential to blow up and compete for POY, and everyone is high on Coleman. If Hendrix shows up, I foresee this team walking to the final table with solid but not ground breaking performances from Mizrachi and Winter.

@Thomacetti

Scott Seiver
Shaun Deeb
Brian Rast
Alex Foxen
Maxx Coleman
Adrian Mateos
Nick Pupillo
Jason Mercier
Dan Smith
Joe Cada

The boom or bust super team is right here. First place? Maybe. Bottom 25%? Maybe as well. This team has good safety coverage along with prayers. Foxen, Mateos, and Smith won't bother showing up to anything with a buy-in of less than 10k limiting their potential. However, those three can easily final table any and all high rollers they enter. If they can make some deep runs in the big events, the rest of this team is poised to feast. The top three are mix game specialists ready to eat up the limit and Dealer's Choice events that the other guys lack in. Add a cheap Cada pick and people being high on Mercier this year, and this team is ready to play. Intentional or not, this might be the most well crafted team of the bunch.

@dpeks13

Scott Seiver
Daniel Negreanu
Alex Livingston
Chris Brewer
Benny Glaser
Adrian Mateos
Jesse Lonis
David Williams
Brian Hastings
Daniel Shak

This team splits into the middle of the first two. A little but of safety, a lot of boom potential. Brewer and Mateos are your high roller boom or busts. Seiver and Negreanu are your all around players who are guaranteed to finish near the top. Livingston is the quiet underdog who can make a POY run. Glaser has a ton of heat and was the subject of a bidding war in the 25K fantasy auction. But the key to this team is at the bottom. Lonis is the sexy pick to accomplish big things at the WSOP after his huge Triton run but he is still unproven and things can certainly go wrong. Williams, Hastings, and Shak are WSOP long term staples that can easily show up and push this team over the top or drown it due to fatigue or lack of tournament interest.

Apologies to you three, I just cursed you with my terrible fantasy insights.

Good luck to everyone and see you all on the other side in Mid July!
