Well first night in Vegas stopped at Ellis island. Craps is my jam. Few orbits with 6 shooters and I had 10 red chips and about a barrel in my pocket. Picked em up and left to sit with the lady playing video poker. Well she wanted to roll one more time. We go back I add 20 bucks to my stack and she rolls twice and we’re up to about 165.

Put the chips in to color up and pit boss says “if you give me those 2 greens you left with earlier I can give you 2 blacks.” I told him “I wish I had greens” he apologized and said “I’m sorry the lady said she saw you walk off with some greens earlier “ I then said “ I had a few ones” and that was it. Then picked up 4 more souvenirs at the cage. I was nervous as could be.

Got 26 of em. Looks like new chip is hotstamped!

How was your first time really trying to harvest chips?

It’s funny because I’ve put chips in my pocket lots of times while playing craps, but not to harvest them. Only to keep from spending them! Nobody ever said anything to me about it. Now that I’m a new collector and I want to harvest chips myself, I’m sure I would be nervous about it because I would have a different agenda.

Great looking $1 but man that’s a busy hot stamp. Gotta give them credit for keeping everything sharp.

You plan on harvesting more?

I love busy heavy steamed chips like the Seven Cedars Fracs. Those are awesome and screw that PB... who cares if you walk away with 2 quarters in your pocket? They have $2.50 ish invested in those chips. They are just trying to keep the small chips on the table but $25s are fine. That was actually quite rude of him actually but not uncommon!

Cool little harvest sir!!

very nice chips, job well done. will say i love those

WTF with the hag putting you on blast, i understand if she saw you picking someone's chips or cheating. but if its your chips again WTF

you should have followed MS BudInSki to the parking lot, worst case if she kicked your butt you would have lost your dignity but at least kept your honor in tack :rolleyes:

I enjoyed your experience. Most people go, crush it, come out with 6 racks, easy peasy.

Me? I’d be walking around with chips in my pocket falling out, closely examining a chip forgetting action is on me, responding with, “Hey would you say this is excellent or near mint?” as they yell at me to go.

So I’m with you there on the sweating as the pit boss bugs you.

If there’s any chance you go back and hang around for awhile, I would def pay to add $1s of these to my avant- grade hot stamp set.

Funny story, thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to my first harvest when things open back up (to my own safety standards at least) here on the east coast.

Stunning hot stamps! Can't wait to get some harvesting under my belt when we head to Vegas in September.

what is the one larger chip about? is that a hash tag on it
It's the same size. If it looks bigger it's an optical illusion. It's a portion of picket fence on the reverse side of the inlaid chip issued prior to the new hot stamped chip. It promotes their THE FRONT YARD Brew Pub. Issued early 2020 if memory serves.

He was very apologetic, later in the night I was thinking about it, and maybe there was a mix up because I did leave with $50 in red chips and didn’t color up, but when I came back I put those on the table. Maybe that’s the “2 greens” he was talking about.

I think it may have been the 10 reds I left with but came back and in my rack.

@BarrieJ3 Do you have a thread with this avant-grade set?
I found that tipping the dealers on the table, especially putting a few bets down on craps, really helps keep the heat off.
I was tipping heavily from the start playing pass line with me. Few 2way hard ways. And putting them up on 6 and 8 with me for a few bucks when I was on a good roll.

Those were what I was planning on attempting to harvest. The lady and I love this place and were just gonna stop for a bit. I put a few of these I’ll call em fence chips in my hand and was like these aren’t as fresh as last time then BOOM brand new chips! Really got the juices flowing.

I was playing 1/3 NL pre-covid at Bellagio and harvesting $1 chips. I made it a point to post my blinds with $5 chips so I would get change and could sort through more chips. Whenever I got a stack of 10 excellent chips, I would put them in my pocket and replace them with two $5 chips. When my pockets got full, I went to the bathroom and transferred the chips to my backpack. I continued this for several hours until I got 2 racks of sorted chips. The dealers and floor definitely got suspicious as they had to ask for more fills than usual. Whenever the floor came over I made sure to make a bet with the unwanted $1 chips to divert attention. I ended up plus $800 + 2 racks :)

Pieces here https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/help-ars-harvests-dimes-and-more.68439/ and pieces here https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/my-shaped-inlay-thc-5-for-your-5-hotstamps.68400/.

I think splitting the sets $1s between these and the Silverton's would make for a wonderfully awful/awfully wonderful splash pot.

edit: and maybe it wouldn't with the difference in thickness of spots. But man, with that crazy and busy of a hotstamp and the set possibly not having an RHC (not enough Tonks), not a bad fit at all.

Yes I did see that post! Liked the idea of a completely different chips in a set.

As a general rule, I despise hot stamps. These aren't that bad, which is high praise from me for a hot stamp. Nicely done.

Sexy chips. Would you sell one?

They just don't like the low denoms leaving the table because they don't want to have to call for a fill. Even if he had asked for the ones, just say you want them for souvenirs and they usually just let it go.

When I USED to play poker at Cali card casinos, I used to just go get a rack from the cashier and take it with me to my table so I didn’t have to wait to buy in. I even took a rack of chips home one time just for fun, and then took it back next time I went to play. Nobody cared I was cruising around with a rack of chips in plain view. Getting racks was super easy. I never considered actually keeping one at the time. The chip holders (racks) were all over the place just lying around. I used to see them on the floor, under the tables, etc.

Paris is an easy harvest at the wheel game as long as it is still $2 min. I got 5 and half racks of very sharp 1's over maybe that many hours of harvesting. Pro tip: invest in a fanny pack, super easy place to stash the chips as you pull em off the table.
