Limit poker was alot of fun thanks Bill. Was great to sit next to @ChaosRock all night! Was funny I looked at my phone and saw it was 2am which caused a mass exodus but the night went fast because it was so enjoyable!

Totally agree... Time flew by for sure... I just wish I was enjoying the same type of beverages you guys were, LOL! Diet Coke for me all night unfortunately...

You're lucky. It's usually a major problem.
I was mostly getting really crappy hands. I wasn't playing a ton. When I did I was either completing missing, or ended up with second best. All said and done I finished the night down 125. If I would have had this kind of night playing NL/PL then I would probably be down closer to 300
The third orbit we played 2-7 Triple draw. First for me. I was either getting unlucky, or over valuing my hands. Three out of seven hands I had 10/9... and 9...8 and 9/7....(actually, three times in a row). Twice I was dealt it, the other time I got there on my first draw. Lost all three for a decent amount of chips. As I said I think I played them bad for the most part. Raising to many times, and over valuing the hands for three draws vs the one draw 2-7 which is my only experience.
Later in the evening I flopped an open ended royal flush draw with two pair in five card PLO. Nothing got there and I lost to a set. Just kind of how the night went. Again, I only lost 125 on the night. Add to this that I have never played a FL structure, and I have never played half of the games on the docket lol.
I put all 1000 chips in a large buck with hot water and TSP cleaner. Let them soak for 20 minutes. Then mix them up really good. Soak for another 20 minutes, stir them up again really well. Rinse really well, spread them out on the table and let them dry.
Now saying that, I don't like them. Not them specifically, I just forgot how much I don't like ceramics. I'll be posting them for sale/trade shortly lol.
I literally got 500 more last night while we were playing.

If you noticed I only had two beers and one small bourbon. I'm still working on figuring out this diverticulitis. Hell, Marc, Jason, and I went to dinner before the game. I had diet coke, club sandwich and chips. Nothing to crazy for me. Next week I'll be sending out text invites for my dinner/birthday poker game on SAT. FEB 11th. Pulled pork and Bourbon BBQ sauce will be on the menu (dinner is on me
). You two will get the first invites.

I think you've probably bought and sold a bunch of them, but if you're gonna keep playing FL and you don't want ceramics, I'd say the Cleveland Horseshoe singles are the way to go. You can still get them for around 70 bucks a rack, even on eBay and they're awesome chips. I don't know if they'll ever get much more expensive than they are now, but I can't imagine you'll ever find decent Paulson $1's for much cheaper.

The chip exchange has 10+ racks of Garden city $2 on eBay for $50/rack with make an offer option.
I would bet if you get them outside of eBay and buy 10 racks you could get them for around $40/rack.
Perfect for a $4/8 game.

How did you think the 3/6 played? Paulo, how did you think it played vs the 2/4 game you hosted a few months ago?
Is there any changes to the way the game was played SAT. night that any of you can think of? Somebody suggested that maybe have a specific docket of games that could be called. After thinking about that, it would seem to go against the theme of "dealers choice".
One change I think I'll make is changing it to a 6 player max vs having seven players.
Anything else?
I really enjoyed the change of pace format. I still don't think I would want to do it more than a few times a year.

I've played/hosted two types of dealer's choice games. The first is a true dealer's choice, anything goes night as long as the showdown is best 5 cards (or a casino-style 4-carded hand). Wilds. crazy board formations. Whatever. That's always a nickle game because most of it is just bullshit & lucky fun. The other style DC game is what was suggested to you - having a fixed list of 5-11 games that players can choose from to call, and then we do an orbit+1 of that game. Both can be fun & both have their place. I would never want them to be my "go to" format, though.
Then again, I don't want any format to be a go-to.

That was me (along with others, possibly). I do this to avoid the crazy, nonsense games getting called. I'm not saying it's right or wrong it's just how I choose to run the show when doing dealer's choice nights - after all, the dealer still has to make a choice

A docket or a list of suggestions dispersed via email ahead of time would help out a newbie like myself so I can get a better idea of games to pick but at the same time I could always use google to research them myself. The printed out suggestions were nice but I don't multi task well and I didn't really get to look at them too closely. Maybe next time I'll show up a little early to read them over.

I know you did. Somebody at the game SAT. night suggested that. The only exception I had on the board was no wild card games. Their just not my thing. We mostly stuck to @abby99 list of cards that I printed out.
I think the game we played the most was 2-7 triple draw. I enjoyed it once I stopped over valuing my hands
Baduci or whatever it was that we were playing was a bit of a challenge for me lol.

I agree, I wasn't sure about 3/6 either. I think 2/4 would have played to small for us. A couple of guys/gal on here suggested 3/6 once I explained how our NL/PL games played.
I was going to sell the chipco's. I honestly don't feel like boxing them up. I'll just keep them for the few times a year that I host limit games.

Your right. I just like clay better. To buy a clay set that would only see play a few times a year probably doesn't make sense for my budget.
Or.........I could just have J5 design me a 2.50 or a 3.00 sunset chip? hmmmmmmmmmmm

3/6 is a good fit for our group imo. I had never played badugi before so I was intimidated for the first couple hands but I caught on after that. I like the challenge of new games, it keeps me on my toes.
Regarding chips you could have used the sunsets as is and although it may have slowed the game down a little it would have been fine. I have played lots of limit games with only 20 or 25 in 1's to start, it is very doable. I also get it that we are on a chip website and MOAR chips is the goal. Oh and I like 7 guys, I would keep it that way but it's your decision when you host.

If I did 2's then we would have to play 2/4 or 4/8. That's why I was thinking of a snapper or three dollar chip. Of course I could save the fee and just order three more racks of ones (which is my favorite chip in the set anyways).

With a $2.50 chip, the game is usually $5/10 and for the $3 it is $6/12.
If your group is comfortable at $3/6 you would want a mountain of $1's.
$4/8 is a good level if you normally play a $200 buy-in for big bet games.

I think it played quite well Bill... I had lots and lots of fun...
I think a print out of the game being played exposed at the table would help... There were a couple of occasions players were playing O8 instead of O or O instead of Cincy, LOL!!!
I don't see a problem having 7 players... Yeah, on a triple draw hand we had to re-shuffle a couple of times but not big deal...
If anything, I think the game might play a bit better at $4/$8 than $3/$6... We might have had a tiny bit more fold for those triple draw games and not even have to reshuffle the deck... People bought for $200+ anyways... It's not to say $3/$6 was too low...
Everything was good man... For a dealers choice's game it was great...
I like a restricted number of games for Limit a little better than Dealers Choice personally (same for No Limit and Pot limit games)... Like one flop game, one stud game and one draw game... Something like "BigO, Razz & 2-7T" or "Cincy, Stud8 & Badacey"... We can see the second orbit of Badacey was so much better than the first... The small number of games forces players to think deeply about the games imo... But that's not Dealers Choice, LOL!!!
