What's up everyone! getting my first custom set on the A mold and I'm trying to get an idea of what my first set will look like. I have the other denoms down but I'm having some concern on the $1 chip. What do you think? Blue or white for the $1 chip? Also, I'm trying to build a 600 chip cash/tourney set. So I would appreciate your input on qty breakdown for something that can handle both types of games with a 6 player table on average. the cash and tourney games is nothing serious, only 5-6 friends that get together and play for beer. I included the white $1, blue$1, and the inlay sample with the white $1. Your thoughts and concerns or any pointers from the experienced chippers?

my current chip breakdown thoughts are:
125-1s
125-5s
150-25s
100-100s
50-500s
50-1Ks

Again, this is to fit an optional cash game and tourney among 5-6 friends for shits, giggles, and beer. your thoughts?

With the rest of your set using "standard" base colors, I think a white $1 works best. And if you go with a frac, I would use a pink or orange base.

Thanks I’ve seen a bellagio chip and a purple others using blue for the $1 so I wasn’t sure what the standard color was. I had heard white was the standard but I see a few different Vegas casinos using blue $1 chips

White or blue is the "standard" $1 color. But really whatever you like is the right answer.
I personally like a white $1 if a red $5, green $25 and black $100 are the other chips.

My personal philosophy is throw all standard colors out to start.

Then I make my favorite chip. Whatever color and edge spots I want. That chip will be the workhorse. Then I build around that

Agreed. But working with the other chips in the set, I think I white $1 is the way to go. Just my $0.02

What about the chip breakdown? I know there are plenty of threads on it but none really address an occasional cash/tourney set. Are my notes above adequate you think?

For sure. I just always suggest that new people so people don’t get locked into standard colors for a custom set.
I am typically a traditionalist and like the idea of making it easier for folks to make the transition from casino to home games, but I think I'm really liking the idea of going completely the opposite direction. I'm building out my first set now and am leaning towards if it is going to be your home game just build a set that you like and folks will probably adjust pretty quickly. That plus it makes it way more difficult for anyone to bring in outside "stock" chips.
