Favorite sides with a nice steak? (3 Viewers)

when i lived in the south (savannah GA) it would be creamed spinach and Mac&cheese

now it would be Sauteed Spinach and fully loaded baked potato.

but i'd prefer a crabcake with some JO#2

Baked potato-extra butter, no sour cream, a good grilled veggie like asparagus, truffle mac-n-cheese is always nice.

Sometimes, just a knife and fork.

Everyone be honest. When you go to a nice steak house with fresh bread and butter, how much are you eating?

For me it's like going out for texmex and it's endless salsa and chips. I'll get a side of queso and I'm half full before the main course arrives lol.

2 rolls. Chips and salsa/cheese dip at the Mexican restaurant are in real trouble though.

I feel we need a Maryland vs Cajun crabcake competition.

Oh, Jims crabcakes served Wednesday to the early birds pre meetup were the BEST EVER ! I assume they would classify as "Maryland". I want more now!

Stuffed or sauteed Shrooms and raw Jalepenos. Earthy Scotch.

+ most anything above

Old Fashioned, a nice red wine or an ice cold beer if it’s an hot summer day are my go tos with steak.

Crispy shoestring fries or a very buttery smooth mashed potato, but since I'm back on the carnivore train, no sides at all for me, unfortunately.

Going through the Steak Thread got me thinking, what's everyone's favorite sides to go with a steak?

For me, it changes often and each time, but I'll break it into categories

Starches
  • Mac and cheese
  • Alfredo
  • baked potato
  • roasted mini potatoes
  • steak fries
  • hawaiian rolls
  • brazillian cheese bread

Veggies
  • sauteed mushrooms, sometimes with onions
  • grilled asparagus
  • roasted garlic heads
  • steamed broccoli
  • roasted brussel sprouts
  • corn
  • roasted sweet potatoes
  • grilled jalapenos

More meat?
  • lobster/lobster tail
  • scallops
  • shrimp

beverage to wash it down
  • Red wine (bold cabernet)
  • old fashioned

What are you all doing for your perfect steak dish with accompanying sides?

Adding some pictures for mouth watering goodness.

I prefer some roasted veggies on the grill. A nice sized foil pouch of garlic red potatoes or some spicy green beans. For the oven charred Brussels sprouts or au gratins work great. I also like just some simple edamame.

Cream Spinach + Steamed Broccoli (if it’s with garlic & chilli). 😎

Father's day is this weekend. Going to celebrate with the family and my parents and already planning the dinner in my head. We aren't big on going out for mother's day or father's day as the crowds just aren't worth the hassle for us.

Steak is for sure on the menu and I'll be picking up some steaks from Costco tomorrow or Saturday. For the sides were probably going to do baked potatoes, mac and cheese, coleslaw. Might even add a lobster tail into the mix if they look really good.
