Almost anything omaha is #1 - PLO, PLO8, Big O, Double Board whatever, ImPLOcean, Omaha Hi Hi, etc.
Scarney is a close second (Canadian rules obviously).

My all time favorite game is Deuces and Jokers wild draw poker. It's my favorite game because it was the first card game I learned to play as a young child. It's more of a nostalgia thing though not necessarily something I enjoy playing regularly. Reminds me of the time I spend with my family during the holidays growing up.

I'd say from a players perspective this is my order:
No Limit Hold Em
Omaha
Razz (still learning)
Limit Hold Em
Stud (7-card)
Bourre
Draw Poker

Pineapple, any variant. Most of our players hate it, though. They like NLHE.
Our Tourneys are all Pineapple at our game... in my opinion there's is almost always more action then folding Q3, K4 and J2 for 2 hours looking for a playable hand! Although I do have one player that says it's a totally different game and can not be played like holdem.... his name is Drunk Bubby for a reason!

NL 2-7 or California Lowball not listed
2 of my favorite games

5 card draw
5 card draw jacks or better to open
5 card draw jacks or better, progressive (pot and cards)
7 card stud, roll your own
4 pass one
3 no peak
Crisscross
Crisscross middle
44
44 bitch

At my home game we play this 6 games in mixed games.

My cash game is either strictly Hold ’Em or occasionally a rotation of NLHE/PLO/PLO8, depending on who’s playing; there are a few NLHE-only guys.

***BUT***

We will play one totally ridiculous, degenerate game — only very late, and only if everyone agrees. It isn’t really worth playing with more than 5-6 guys. I posted about this in the @abby99’s games thread a while back — Rose With A Tail, a/k/a Rosie:

The strategy, to the extent there is any, is mostly about how soon to give up or how to get others to keep putting money in when you have it. It’s hard to get a bluff through but not impossible. Even experienced Rosie players sometimes misread the board, or fail to notice that there is a possible straight flush. This is mostly because the game is only played after 3 am.

Like most PLO8 variants, this is a game where getting quartered can be disastrous, and you really want to scoop.

On Monday, after a tourney and about then four hours of Hold ’Em, the five of us left played Rosie for another 90 minutes. I turned my -$600 night into a winning session.

Larry not sure I follow this one Anaconda high/low hmm maybe I can look this one up!

An old game, supposedly invented in the 19th century at the Anaconda copper mine in Montana. Played limit, three raises.

Anaconda High-Low (max. seven players)

-Everyone is dealt seven cards, face down.
-Bet.

-Each player selects three cards to pass to his left, and places them to his left, face down.
-Bet.
-Pick up the cards passed to you.

-Each player selects three cards to pass to his right, and places them to his right, face down.
-Bet.
-Pick up the cards passed to you.

-Select your best five card poker hand, high/low/both ways, and place them face down in front of you ready to "roll your own".

-Roll a card.
-Bet.

-Roll a second card.
-Bet

-Roll a third card.
-Bet.

-Roll a fourth card.
-Bet.

-Take three chips and place declare high (1), low (0), or both (2) by placing the corresponding number of chips in your right hand. Important note: If you declare both, you must win both outright -- no ties. (Suit rank is used for identical flushes.)

-On the count of 3, every shows their chips.

-Bet.

-Showdown.

Variation for mucho added fun: If the game has an even number of players, you can add a pass across.

To speed things up, you can also eliminate the "rolling-your-own" and those four rounds of betting, but that pretty much eliminates any skill involved in the game.

Ok thanks Larry we used to play roll your own! Basically the same except pass 3 left, pass 3 right did not have betting at those stages! Haven't thought of roll you own for 20 years!! Thank you for the lengthy well described post sir! Felliw chipper Ben

One of my favorite games back in college days. Except we always passed to the left. First 3, then 2 and then 1. Everything else the same.

Some people call this game Pass the Trash.

Had forgotten about that name, but yep!

Come to think of it, 7-stud roll-your-own is a great game all by itself. :cool

GUTS....I guess there must be a hundred games called that. What I grew up calling GUTS:

-Everybody antes up, you get 3 cards. Look and decide.
-Hold them out in front, dealer counts 1...2..3 GUTS!
-All players either drop or hold their cards. Players left holding are in play.
-Highest 3 card hand wins the pot, all losing live cards MATCH POT. No straights, no flushes.
-Everybody re-antes and run it again. Play continues like this until only 1 person is left holding cards and steal the pot.
***This game is NOT table stakes....if you owe pot, you dig into your wallet and MATCH POT. Thus....GUTS.

I hate this game.

However, I love 7 stud. That's where my vote went. I also love Limit O8
Grew up playing this game and that game has me here today. Guts was fun!

If u have too many friendships and want to lose a couple, you can add in a terrible rule that if everyone folds, the best hand matches the pot. it will not be a boring poker night.
