About a month or so ago I decided I would revive my interests in poker after a kid I went to high school with (Bryan Piccioli) made the final table of the WSOP main event.

20 days ago I picked up a used octo table for cheap off Craigslist. My "garage game" is gonna be fun.

16 days ago I picked up a small oval table for cheap off Craigslist. Maybe I can get a cash came going on the octagon when guys bust out of the garage tourney.

14 days ago I received a $29.99 set of Trademark Dice Chips from Amazon. Ah, sweet high school nostalgia (except these weren't sticky with Bush Light Residue and Bong Water)

10 days ago I found this website. All over. I posted a picture of some chips that seemed a little more aesthetic than the dice chips, and claimed to be "professional clay." The community agreed they were likely cheap plastic chips, but I grabbed them cause, you know... it was starting...

5 days ago I picked up a 600ct Apache Majestic Tourney Set... Wife agrees to me hosting monthly in the basement, no garage exile

2 days ago I ordered an 8-man Basic table from Chanman.... and started planning where the beer fridge, and old casino slot machine would look best in the poker den..

1 day ago I realized I've seen every chair listed for sale in a 200 mile radius, and still haven't found a banquet hall closing, or hotel flipping their old conference room chairs... yet..

Today I realized I'm Doomed.

Hi, my Name is Shane, and I'm addicted to buying gear... any over under on when the Paulsons become "irresistible?"

any over under on when the Paulsons become "irresistible?"

Welcome! I see you haven't discovered the "find the right cards" path yet. That's a fun trip that you will enjoy.

As far as the irresistibility of Paulsons, the fact that you know they exist means it has already happened. But don't worry, you'll still get to discover the beauty of TRKings, as well as fully-leaded Paulsons. Just enjoy the ride....

Be patient on your chair hunt. I think I searched craigslist for well over a year before finding my craigslist deal. It was well worth the wait, but I certainly spent a lot of time online and had many frustrating "when will I find MY deal?" Moments.

Eventually Picked up these HON chairs ($350+ retail each) for ... $9 each. Practically new.

43 days he'll start his custom chip set journey

That's what a leather HON task chair runs. At least that model, when I looked It up. Some are much more (some less). I'd never pay $350 for a single chair like that.

The story on how I got them is kinda funny. Some accounting firm was selling their chairs. Their corporate office switched to a blue color scheme approximately four months after purchasing all of these red chairs for their accountants. The office manager was tasked with liquidating the old chairs, which included some HON stackable wired frame waiting room chairs. I explained that I was looking for the red chairs in the craigslist ad, which were listed at $10 each. The office manager explained that the red chairs were low quality, which is why they were only $10 each. She then directed me to the wire framed waiting room chairs, which she was selling used at $40 per chair. She explained they were much higher because they were HON brand. Since I neither knew (nor cared) about what a HON chair was, I declined the waiting room chairs and offered her $100 for the remaining 11 red chairs ($9 each). She happily excepted, and I happily loaded my cheap red chairs into my van. After all the money was exchanged and my minivan door was closing, the office manager freaked out. She screamed "oh my God those are HON chairs!" She had seen the underside of chairs (as my tailgate door was closing) and noticed a HON label. She seemed to deflate, and let out a long sigh, Then told me that I got a great deal on the chairs and I should take care of them. She explained that they were about $350 each. I LOLd and thought she was crazy, until my curiosity got the better of me and I looked them up.

Staples is selling a cloth version of my chair for $430... way too much money. I've since picked up some cloth versions of the lower end Hon chairs that I think retail for even less.

But whatever, I'm still on the chair hunt, now looking for stackable gassers for my second and third Tables. The orig chairs fit around a permanent table, but the additional table and chairs need to be stored. The task chairs take up too much storage real estate. It never ends.

You are on your way to......
well lets just say, a lot of fun..

May your wallet be empty and your CHIP racks be full....

Welcome.

Thanks! I did get some copag poker-sized standard index... but, you know I've been thinking about bridge sized jumbo index already! Will likely order something with different feel in that size (bridge size) to be able to compare different size and texture, then try to settle on something... haha, settle.

My favorite looking set atm is the Stardust tourney stuff, so availability and price should scare me off for a while, at least until I talk myself into getting my next "hold-me over until..." set.

Thanks! Your table is my favorite of the lot! Used to work at a Bicycle shop here in Buffalo, and I actually had a Surly Pugsley before the fatbike scene caught fire. Ended up selling it because I used it more for pulling a dog trailer than anything else lol, but I miss it more than any of the other dozen or so bikes I flipped while working there! Surly is still my favorite brand of anything ever, such cool people.

All my winnings are gonna fund my new chip hobby.... that's what I'm telling my wife anyways.

That's how I handle things. I have my own poker account. All wins go in it, loses and chips purchases come out it.

It appears that your case is pretty severe. Stay strong.
If you want I can forward you some information about a support group?

I'm just kidding. You are doomed.

Welcome! You're screwed! Lol

I'm not sure how Buffalo people feel about NYC but you might have some PNY in your future.
As far as the Mrs. is concerned mine actually encouraged my sickness when she saw the Le Coves I sold for $2 now selling for $5.
It's an "investment" :)

Average time from initial receipt of Paulson sample chips to purchase of first Paulson set is 47.6 days. Start counting your pennies.

Well, fiscal burden for the state aside, I love it there! I am not a huge fan of the pictures on the inlays look however.

Doomed? Sounds more like blessed.

Doomed had much more clickbait potential as a title! But you're right, I am lucky to have achieved the freedom to pursue such things. I don't believe in that "blessed" stuff.

Welcome!!

Your journey sounds remarkably similar to mine. Below is how I forsee your future going. An occassionally pissed off wife, but many many hours of clay bliss enjoyment. :D
